Apple Music Reveals Top 500 Most Streamed Songs

Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You tops decade-long list featuring The Weeknd, Drake, Taylor Swift, and more

Apple Music is celebrating a decade of streaming dominance by unveiling its Top 500 most-streamed songs of the past ten years, a monumental list that captures the soundtrack of a generation. Ed Sheeran’s 2017 smash hit "Shape of You" reigns supreme at No. 1, a testament to its global appeal and enduring popularity. The song not only spent over 1,000 days at No. 1 on Apple Music’s all-genre Top Songs chart in at least one country but also set the record for the biggest first-day pop debut in the platform’s history.

Trailing closely behind is The Weeknd’s "Blinding Lights," which secured the No. 2 spot after dominating the Global Daily Top 100 for more than 180 days. The Weeknd also leads the R&B category with nine entries, solidifying his place as a key figure in the genre over the past decade.

Rounding out the top three is Drake’s "God’s Plan," the most-streamed hip-hop song in Apple Music history. Drake’s influence on the list is undeniable, boasting 27 songs in total—the most by any artist—highlighting his prolific output and consistent popularity. Another of his hits, "One Dance," also features in the top 10 at No. 7.

Post Malone claims both the No. 4 and No. 5 spots with "Sunflower" (featuring Swae Lee) from the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack and "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage, respectively. These tracks showcase his versatility and appeal across genres.

The remainder of the top 10 includes a mix of chart-topping artists and tracks: Travis Scott’s "Sicko Mode," Ed Sheeran’s "Perfect," Chris Brown’s "No Guidance," and Billie Eilish’s "Bad Guy," the latter being the only female artist in the top 10. Eilish also leads the alternative genre with nine songs on the list, underscoring her impact on the music scene.

Taylor Swift emerges as the female artist with the most entries, appearing 14 times, second only to Drake. Her hits "Blank Space" and "Cruel Summer" stand out, with the latter ranking at No. 57. Swift’s album "1989" notably contributed several tracks to the list, including "Shake It Off," "Wildest Dreams," and "Style." Cardi B dominates among female rappers with eight entries, reflecting her significant influence in hip-hop.

K-pop’s global rise is evident with BTS securing two spots: "Dynamite" at No. 34 and "Butter" at No. 252. Blackpink’s Rosé also made the list with "APT," a collaboration with Bruno Mars, ranking at No. 459 and spending over 60 days at No. 1 on Apple Music’s Global Daily Top 100 chart. Japanese duo Yoasobi claims the most J-pop entries with three songs, including their debut "Racing into the Night." These inclusions highlight the growing international diversity of Apple Music’s audience.

Country music’s presence is marked by Lil Nas X’s "Old Town Road," which stands as the highest-ranked country song at No. 60, while Morgan Wallen leads with the most country tracks overall, boasting nine entries. Latin music’s influence is represented by Bad Bunny, who has the most songs among Latin artists on the list, with ten entries.

Interestingly, Mariah Carey’s "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is the only holiday song to make the cut, landing at No. 100, proving its perennial popularity across generations.

The list also honors timeless classics, with Queen’s "Bohemian Rhapsody" appearing at No. 156, the oldest song on the chart, demonstrating how some tracks transcend eras and continue to resonate with listeners.

Apple Music’s rollout of the Top 500 songs was staggered throughout the week leading up to July 6, 2025, culminating in the full unveiling on July 5. Alongside the list, Apple released a special interview with Ed Sheeran, where he reflected on the unprecedented success of "Shape of You." He said, "No one can take away the song. I’ll be able to play it forever … I’m just grateful that I have songs like that, where you could be anywhere in the world, and if someone hands you a guitar, you can make people smile." This sentiment captures the universal power of music and the unique connection artists forge with their audiences.

As Apple Music marks its 10th anniversary, this list not only celebrates the platform’s evolution but also offers a snapshot of the musical tastes that have defined the last decade. From pop anthems and hip-hop hits to R&B grooves, alternative tracks, and global sounds, the Top 500 encapsulate a rich tapestry of creativity and cultural moments.

For music lovers, this comprehensive list is more than just numbers—it’s a journey through the songs that have provided the soundtrack to their lives, the beats that have moved dance floors, and the lyrics that have inspired countless fans worldwide.
