The alarming sight led to a swift response from local fire departments, which dispatched approximately 24 fire trucks to tackle the blaze.

Witnesses recounted the chaotic scene, describing how they noticed thick black smoke rising from the structure. "Fire and smoke were visible," reported local residents, who were understandably concerned about the potential for significant damage and injuries. During the firefighting efforts, it was confirmed by authorities, including police and firefighting officials, than one woman, aged 70, sustained injuries related to the fire. She suffered airway burns and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, responsive action from firefighters and the prompt calls from concerned citizens likely mitigated what could have been worse outcomes.

The fire occurred approximately two kilometers southwest of JR Nagoya Station and near the Iwatsuka Station on the municipal subway's Higashiyama Line. The specific cause of the fire remains under investigation, as officials continue to gather information from residents and assess the scene.
