Apache 207 And Luciano Film "Gesegnet" Music Video

Iconic Dresden landmarks serve as backdrop for rap duo's new single, blending culture and youth expression.

Two prominent figures from the German rap scene, Apache 207 and Luciano, have teamed up to film the music video for their latest single, "Gesegnet," set against the stunning backdrop of Dresden. The video was filmed on the night of December 18 at the iconic Semperoper and the artistic Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, locations typically associated with classical performances and fine art. The collaboration aims to juxtapose the often raw and energetic aesthetics of rap with the refined elegance of these historical sites.

Apache 207, who has become one of Germany's largest live performers, and Luciano have prominently incorporated elements from their respective artistic identities—a feather for Apache 207 and a butterfly for Luciano—symbolizing their unique styles. The partnership reflects not just the merging of two music genres but also showcases the potential for cultural exchange, significantly through the support of Dresden's esteemed institutions.

According to representatives of Umlaut Films, the production company behind the project, the choice of venues was intentional. "We wanted to depict the stark contrasts between old high culture and modern youth culture," the representative shared with TAG24. They expressed gratitude for the openness displayed by Dresden's cultural institutions, stating they were delighted by the cooperation, which was not always the case when seeking similar partnerships elsewhere, such as Berlin.

The Semperoper has previously sought to break barriers between traditional and contemporary art forms, having collaborated with artists like DJ Purple Disco Machine and the legendary band Kraftwerk. A spokesperson from the opera noted, "We are very interested in breaking down barriers as a place of living art and culture," echoing the sentiments shared by the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister.

This forward-thinking approach allowed the shoot to take place outside normal visiting hours, enabling the filmmakers to utilize various stunning settings within the museum, including the Foyer, the Italian and Dutch painting halls, and the main Tribuna. The filming process lasted several hours, and both Apache 207 and Luciano embraced the challenge of integrating their artistic vision within these prestigious spaces.

The reception to "Gesegnet," which features five tracks on the EP of the same name, has been overwhelmingly positive. Shortly after the release, the music video recorded over 180,000 views on YouTube, reflecting its growing popularity. "The success, which can be clearly measured on YouTube, shows us we were right to make this collaboration possible with these institutions on such short notice," enthused the spokesperson from Umlaut Films.

Fans and critics alike are eagerly awaiting the full release, which promises not only to entertain but to marry high-level cultural art with contemporary music trends. The fusion has opened doors and sparked interest, indicating potential future projects between the young artists and established cultural establishments.

By integrating modern artistic expression with historical significance, Apache 207 and Luciano's collaboration is poised to inspire future generations, proving once again how diverse artistic forms can create vibrant discussions and reflect contemporary culture.
