Anthony Colette Exits Danse Avec Les Stars Amid Controversy

The dancer's departure sparks reactions from former colleagues and fans alike.

In a surprising turn of events, Anthony Colette, a beloved figure on TF1's "Danse avec les stars," announced in January 2025 that he would not be returning for the upcoming season. This decision has sparked significant reactions from fans and fellow contestants alike, particularly from Christophe Licata, who expressed his views just a day before Colette's announcement.

Colette joined the show in 2017, fulfilling a long-held dream. Over the years, he became a fan favorite, culminating in a victory with singer Natasha St-Pier in the previous season. However, his journey was not without controversy; season 13 was marred by disputes involving fellow competitors, which Colette found himself inadvertently dragged into.

Eight months after the conclusion of season 13, Colette took to Instagram to share his feelings about not being asked back, stating, "It would be a lie to claim that I voluntarily chose to end this adventure now. I haven’t decided anything. I don’t necessarily understand the reasons for my absence." His post resonated with many who had followed his journey on the show.

In the wake of Colette's announcement, Licata, who is still part of the cast, commented in "Ciné-Télé-Revue," suggesting that Colette's reaction was a mistake. He noted, "It’s his youth, his way of reacting, which was not at all mine. For me, it’s a mistake what he did... But I don’t want to judge. After, Anthony is a work colleague. I wouldn’t go spend weekends with him." This statement did not sit well with Colette, who later responded during an interview with Télé-Loisirs.

Colette fired back at Licata's remarks, stating, "It has nothing to do with my youth; it has to do with self-respect and respect for my work. And he knows exactly what I’m talking about. People don’t know everything. He’s saying nonsense..." He further emphasized that he had remained silent about the situation, suggesting that Licata's comments were motivated by his desire to succeed in the current season.

Despite the drama surrounding his departure, Colette expressed no regrets about his time on the show. "I would do everything the same way if I had the chance to go back," he affirmed. When asked if he would consider returning to "Danse avec les stars," Colette was clear: "The only thing that would motivate me would be a salary tripled, which is impossible. Or being a judge, which I think is even more impossible. So ultimately, there aren’t many other options. I’ve already won once... So if I go back and win again? It wouldn’t change anything in my life."

Meanwhile, the current season of "Danse avec les stars" continues to unfold. Mayane and Christophe Licata recently faced their first elimination challenge after ranking last in a recent episode. Fortunately for them, they were saved by the public vote and are set to perform a tango to "L’Assasymphonie" from the musical "Mozart, Opéra Rock." The pressure is on as they aim to impress the judges and secure a spot in the semi-finals.

As the competition heats up, the show airs every Friday at 21h05 on TF1, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as they tune in to watch their favorite dancers. The stakes are high, and with each passing week, the excitement only builds.

In addition to the ongoing competition, dance enthusiasts have a unique opportunity coming up. Following the success of its first event in Lille, Dance Concept Event is hosting a second workshop on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the Théâtre du Casino Barrière Lille. This workshop will feature Jean-Marc Généreux, a prominent judge on "Danse avec les stars," along with Christophe and Coralie Licata.

Participants can look forward to a day filled with dance classes, starting with a Latino session led by Généreux from 15h30 to 16h45, followed by a signing and photo session until 17h15. After that, Christophe and Coralie Licata will lead a Jive class from 17h15 to 18h30, concluding with another signing and photo opportunity until 19h. This event promises to be a fantastic chance for both amateurs and passionate dancers to refine their skills and enjoy a day in the vibrant world of dance.

As the drama unfolds both on and off the dance floor, fans of "Danse avec les stars" remain captivated by the evolving stories of their favorite contestants, eagerly awaiting what the next week will bring.
