Antena 3 is set to launch its exciting new game show, ¡Salta!, premiering Saturday at 10 PM. Hosted by popular television personality Manel Fuentes, the show combines tension, risk, strategy, and general knowledge as five contestants compete for a grand prize of 50,000 euros.
At the center of the contest is the challenge to cross an impressive 40-meter-long bridge. To succeed, contestants must answer ten rounds of questions accurately, pitting their general knowledge and bravery against one another. The format requires contestants to analyze entertaining yet misleading statements, allowing them to select their answers carefully. If they answer incorrectly, the bridge collapses beneath them, adding to the show's exhilarating intensity.
"It's structured to really put people's knowledge and guts to the test," Fuentes explained. Contestants who choose the correct answers advance to the next round, increasing the difficulty as they progress. This leads to the final question, which offers the chance to claim the maximum prize.
A unique twist on the game is the role of the 'controller,' chosen by the fastest contestant to answer correctly from five statements. This contestant has the power to dictate the order responses are made, which adds another layer of strategy. The objective is to navigate through the game so they can arrive at the final round with minimal risk.
Each episode features two alternating rounds where five participants compete simultaneously. The game begins with the host presenting five statements on a specific topic, only one of which is true. Contestants then quickly select what they believe to be the correct answer. The one who responds quickest becomes the controller, gaining the advantage of choosing whether to play themselves or pass the turn.
Challenges escalate steadily; during the initial rounds one truth among two statements must be identified, but later rounds present up to four statements with only one contender as the correct answer. By the time they reach the last question, players face six statements, half correct, half wrong, and must identify the trap door—a tactical element of the game whose proper navigation is key to success.
The financial stakes increase—if contestants answer correctly, they can instantly win 5,000 euros for the first correct answer. If they continue to excel without stumbling, they could potentially secure 20,000 euros and, with one final answer, reach the grand prize amount of 50,000 euros.
The show is adapted from Talpa Studios' format, which has been successful internationally, particularly launching with great audiences on Dutch television channel RTL4. The original version, named The Jump, has been very well received, and ¡Salta! aims to replicate this success when it airs abroad via Antena 3 Internacional and Atresplayer.
Fuentes attributes part of the show's thrilling nature to the physical apparatus involved. “There’s something inherently thrilling about the element of risk—we’ve got people jumping, the bridge itself adds suspense, and audiences will feel the tension build as contestants take big leaps on very tricky questions,” he said.
Fuentes, who has hosted numerous television programs, discussed the experience of filming ¡Salta!. "There's always the question of whether someone will freeze up because the stakes are so high. It's fascinating to see how some contestants flourish under pressure, and others, not so much,” he added with a laugh.
Humor is not neglected either; the production team has invited comedians for light-hearted commentary, ensuring the atmosphere remains engaging. With participants' emotional ups and downs on display, the combination of laughter and gasps will entertain audiences of all ages.
The show has also captured the attention of political figures and celebrities alike. Recently, during interactions with cast members, Manel chatted with Madrid’s President Isabel Díaz Ayuso about the show's popularity and even the construction delays at his home, adding personal anecdotes to the exciting expectations of ¡Salta!.
With its mix of knowledge-based competition and physical challenge, ¡Salta! is poised to become the latest sensation on Spanish television. The show combines strategic decision-making, the thrill of risk-taking, and the opportunity for significant winnings, all backed by international acclaim.
Viewers can expect to tune in for edge-of-your-seat moments, laughter, and perhaps some surprising twists as the contestants navigate their way across one thrilling challenge after another. ¡Salta! is on its way to becoming the must-watch show of the season, ready to delight television audiences throughout Spain and beyond as it broadcasts internationally.
