AMD's Ryzen AI Max 395 APU Outclasses RTX 4070 Laptop GPU

The new APU showcases transformative performance gains, especially for gaming applications.

AMD has recently made waves at CES 2025 with the launch of its Ryzen AI Max 395 APU, dubbed the "Strix Halo." This cutting-edge processor promises to deliver significant advancements compared to traditional laptop GPUs, particularly the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070. The Ryzen AI Max 395 marks the latest evolution of AMD's zen architecture and RDNA graphics technology, showcasing AMD's commitment to high-performance applications.

At the heart of the Ryzen AI Max 395 lies the Zen 5 core architecture combined with the advanced RDNA 3.5 graphics architecture. Specifically, the APU comprises three dies: two Core Complex Dies (CCDs) for CPU tasks and one I/O Die (IOD) dedicated to graphics functions. This design not only enhances computational efficiency but also reflects the company’s integration of innovative technologies such as the 50 TOPS “XDNA 2” neural processing unit (NPU) for AI acceleration.
