Amazon's Deep Cover To Premiere At SXSW London

The crime-comedy starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Orlando Bloom will debut on June 4 before streaming on Prime Video.

The inaugural SXSW London Screen Festival is set to showcase the world premiere of Amazon's crime-comedy film, Deep Cover, on June 4, 2025. This highly anticipated film features a star-studded cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, Nick Mohammed, and Sean Bean, and is directed by Tom Kingsley.

Deep Cover tells the story of Kat, played by Howard, an aspiring comedian who teaches improv classes while grappling with the fear that she may have missed her shot at success. Her life takes an unexpected turn when an undercover cop, portrayed by Sean Bean, offers her the role of a lifetime. To help him infiltrate London's gangland, Kat recruits two of her students, Marlon (Bloom) and Hugh (Mohammed), to impersonate dangerous criminals. The film promises to deliver a fast-paced blend of action and comedy, as the trio quickly finds themselves in over their heads.

The film is not just making waves for its engaging storyline; it will also serve as the Centrepiece Headliner at the SXSW London festival, which runs from June 2-7 in Shoreditch, London. This festival is a spinoff of the popular Austin festival and will include various screen, music, and tech verticals. The festival is expected to reveal its broader screen lineup in the coming days.

In addition to its premiere at SXSW London, Deep Cover will also make its debut at the Tribeca Festival 2025 on June 10, 2025, as a Spotlight Narrative. The film is set to stream globally on Prime Video starting June 12, 2025.

The writing team behind Deep Cover includes Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow, known for their work on the Jurassic World series, along with Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen. The film is produced by Colin Trevorrow, Walter F. Parkes, and Laurie MacDonald.

Joining Howard, Bloom, and Mohammed in the cast are Paddy Considine, Sonoya Mizuno, and Ian McShane, all of whom bring their talents to this unique project. Kingsley, who has previously directed Stath Lets Flats, is excited to helm this comedic venture that combines elements of crime and humor.

As the festival approaches, excitement is building not just for Deep Cover, but for the entire lineup of speakers and events. Notable figures such as Idris Elba, Deepak Chopra, Katherine Ryan, Wyclef Jean, Tems, Jenn Nkiru, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Joe Wicks are set to participate in this inaugural event.

The buzz surrounding Deep Cover reflects a broader trend in the film industry, where unique narratives and diverse storytelling are gaining traction. This film's premise, which centers on a group of improv performers turned undercover agents, is a fresh take on the crime-comedy genre and highlights the versatility of its cast.

Bloom, who has recently reflected on his career and previous roles, is poised to make a significant impact with this film. Having previously starred in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, he brings a wealth of experience and depth to his character, Marlon. In a recent interview, Bloom shared his thoughts on the duality of success and struggle in the entertainment industry, stating, "It's a funny thing when you have something that was making and breaking you at the same time." His insights add a layer of authenticity to the film's exploration of ambition and identity.

As the premiere date approaches, all eyes will be on Deep Cover to see how it resonates with audiences. With its blend of humor, action, and a compelling narrative, it is sure to be a highlight of the festival and a significant addition to the streaming landscape.

The SXSW London Screen Festival promises not only to be a platform for new films like Deep Cover but also a celebration of creativity and innovation in the entertainment sector. As filmmakers and audiences gather to experience the latest in film, the festival is set to become a cornerstone for cinematic exploration and appreciation.
