Amanda Kloots made her relationship with retired tennis player Justin Gimelstob red carpet official on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Unforgettable Evening gala held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. This event, which supports the Women's Cancer Research Fund, marked the couple's first public appearance together, drawing attention from fans and media alike.
"I feel very lucky, very happy," Gimelstob told Parade during the event, where he and Kloots were all smiles as they posed for photographs. The couple's debut comes as Kloots navigates a new chapter in her life following the tragic loss of her husband, Broadway actor Nick Cordero, who passed away in July 2020 due to COVID-19-related complications after spending more than three months in the hospital.
Kloots, 43, wore a stunning floor-length light blue satin gown with a thigh split, while Gimelstob, 48, complemented her look in a blue suit paired with a light pink tie. The couple's chemistry was evident, and Kloots described their relationship as "very new" and "absolutely lovely." She noted they are still in the early "courting" phase, a sentiment echoed by Gimelstob, who expressed, "I hope to never leave that stage."
Gimelstob, who began his professional tennis career in 1996 and won 15 doubles championships—including the 1998 Australian Open and the 1998 French Open with Venus Williams—retired from the sport in 2007. He was previously married to psychotherapist Cary Sinnott, with whom he shares a son. Kloots and Cordero also have a son, Elvis Eduardo, who is now five years old.
When discussing how they met, Gimelstob humorously claimed, "We’ve been dating for a year; she just didn’t know it." He recounted first seeing Kloots at a Formula 1 race in Las Vegas and feeling an instant attraction. However, they didn't actually go on a date until about eighteen months later. Their connection was facilitated by mutual friends, and Kloots mentioned that they had played tennis together before becoming a couple.
Kloots shared that her son Elvis has already met Gimelstob, which has been a positive experience. "Justin has an older son, which is kind of fun, so they get along, so it's nice," she explained. The bond between their children adds a layer of comfort as they navigate their new relationship.
The former Talk co-host has been open about her journey through grief since Cordero's death. In a previous interview, she revealed that the grieving process is unique for everyone. "A lot of people have said to me, ‘It gets easier [and] time helps,’ and I don’t know if I found that yet," Kloots reflected. "I still pretty much cry every day. It’s growing pains," she added, emphasizing her commitment to staying healthy and active while managing her emotions.
In December 2022, Kloots expressed her openness to finding love again, stating, "I’ve definitely gone on lots of dates and all wonderful, nice people, but just nobody that has stuck around." By October 2024, she revealed that Cordero had given her his blessing to move on, as communicated through a medium. "He has definitely given me his blessing," Kloots said. "And he always says it’s coming. That’s one of the running themes from readings that I’ve had, that it’s coming. ‘I know you’re lonely. It’s coming. I don’t know. We’ll see.'"
With her new relationship, Kloots seems to be embracing the future. "I’ve learned a lot. I try to take something positive from each little date or relationship that I’ve been on," she remarked. "I’m still looking for the one, and I really do have faith that I’ll find it. I really believe in love and I believe that it’s still out there for me."
As Kloots and Gimelstob embark on this new journey together, their story offers a glimpse into the complexities of love, loss, and the hope of new beginnings. Their relationship serves as a reminder that even after profound grief, joy and companionship can blossom anew.
