Alyssa Milano Revives Stage Career While Cardi B Sparks Family News

Alyssa Milano is ready to light up Broadway as she makes her debut this fall in the razzle-dazzle musical Chicago. The actress, known for her roles in Who's the Boss? and Charmed, will step onto the stage at the Ambassador Theatre, portraying the character Roxie Hart.

Starting September 16 and running for eight weeks, Milano is excited to return to her theatrical roots. "The beauty of theater is you get to try new things every night," she shared with The Associated Press.

Milano’s passion for theater dates back to her childhood when she joined the national touring company of Annie at just eight years old. She has graced stages with productions like Wendy Wasserstein's Tender Offer and even produced and starred in her version of Butterflies Are Free.

After years focusing on family and television projects, including the Netflix series Insatiable, Milano felt the timing was right for this opportunity. With her daughters, ages nine and twelve, adjusted to their routines, she noticed her daughter encouraging her, saying, "Mom, you would be an idiot not to do this."

Chicago, set in the Roaring Twenties, offers sharp satire reflecting how show business glorifies crime. The musical boasts iconic numbers like "All That Jazz" and "Cell Block Tango," and Milano is eager to put her unique spin on such beloved material.

She is particularly inspired by Ann Reinking, who originated the role of Roxie Hart and created the choreography for the show’s 1996 revival. Milano hopes to honor Reinking’s legacy through her performance, stating, "I’m really trying to pay homage to her choreography and her portrayal of Roxie because she was tremendous."

The role of Roxie Hart has captivated audiences and has been played by familiar faces like Pam Anderson, Melanie Griffith, and Jennifer Nettles. Milano hopes her portrayal will add to this distinguished legacy, assuring fans she’ll keep discovering new layers to the character.

Meanwhile, Cardi B has also made headlines with the announcement of her third child's impending arrival. The Grammy-winning rapper, who first shot to fame with hits like "Bodak Yellow," shared the news with her fans on Instagram alongside touching notes to her unborn baby.

“I am so grateful to have shared this season with you,” she wrote, expressing her excitement and anticipation for the new family member. Cardi's announcement came on the same day she reportedly filed for divorce from Offset, creating buzz about her personal life.

While she didn’t explicitly confirm the divorce, Cardi hinted at changes with her phrase “with every ending, there’s a new beginning.” She has two children with Offset, and her unexpected news surprised many fans.

On the film front, Deadpool and Wolverine continues to dominate conversations, especially with Hugh Jackman’s surprise return to the character Wolverine. During discussions about the film, Jackman revealed he committed to the role before even informing his agent.

"I was just driving, and literally, just like a bolt of lightning, came this knowing deep inside me,” Jackman explained of his decision to return. Fans have long anticipated the pairing of Jackman’s Wolverine with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool.

Initially hesitant, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had cautioned Jackman against taking on Wolverine again after the emotional conclusion of Logan. Yet, after discussions on the film's plot, Feige changed his mind when he realized Jackman wouldn’t be playing the same version audiences saw die.

Jackman confirmed this decision, stating, "It’s all because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines. Now we can go back, and I don’t have to screw with the ‘Logan’ timeline."

Fans eagerly await what new elements this Marvel film will explore, promising to showcase different sides of Wolverine. The film, due out July 26, teases plenty of familiar faces and fresh surprises for die-hard Marvel fans.

Lastly, director Shawn Levy recently dismissed rumors of Taylor Swift appearing as Dazzler, noting it was never even considered. The speculation arose from her friendship with Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, igniting widespread fan excitement.

“I definitely had moments where I was worried I would disappoint people when they realized Taylor as Dazzler was not in the movie,” Levy admitted. He clarified there were no discussions about Swift's involvement but noted the internet's penchant for creating discussions out of thin air.

While Swift won't appear, Deadpool and Wolverine will feature several of the Reynolds family's cameos, including Lively as Lady Deadpool and even their kids. Swift, meanwhile, has shown her support from the sidelines, calling the film “a joy portal” for fans.

With each star pursuing their paths, Milano's return to Broadway and Cardi B's motherhood announcement remind us how dynamic and evolving the entertainment industry remains. All this excitement only promises more thrilling updates from the world of celebrity and entertainment.
