All-New 2025 Jeep Compass Redefines SUV Standards

With advanced electrification options and modern design, Jeep aims for market leadership

The Jeep brand has officially unveiled the all-new 2025 Jeep Compass, a significant evolution in the popular SUV model that has sold over 2.5 million units globally since its debut in 2006. This latest generation is designed to redefine standards in one of the most competitive segments of the automotive market, which represents nearly a quarter of car sales in Europe.

Manufactured at the Melfi plant in Italy, a key hub for Stellantis’ electrification strategy, the new Compass is built on the STLA Medium platform, which it shares with other models such as the Peugeot 3008, 5008, and the Opel Grandland. This platform is specifically designed to accommodate a range of powertrains, including mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric options.

The new Compass features a more robust design, measuring 4.54 meters in length—14 centimeters longer than its predecessor. It also boasts an increased wheelbase of 2.77 meters, providing more interior space and comfort for passengers. The SUV's design retains the iconic Jeep aesthetic, characterized by squared, vertical lines and the legendary seven-slot grille that has become synonymous with the brand.

Under the hood, the 2025 Jeep Compass offers three distinct powertrain options: a mild hybrid variant with a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine producing 145 horsepower, a plug-in hybrid version that combines a gasoline engine with an electric motor for a total output of 195 horsepower, and three fully electric versions ranging from 210 to 375 horsepower. The electric models promise impressive ranges, with the highest variant offering up to 650 kilometers on a single charge.

The mild hybrid version, which is exclusively front-wheel drive, features a 1.2 turbo petrol engine combined with a 29 horsepower electric motor, providing a total of 145 horsepower and an estimated range of 907 kilometers. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid model includes a 1.6-liter gasoline engine paired with a 19 kWh battery, offering 770 kilometers of total range, including 83 kilometers in electric-only mode.

For those seeking electric power, the Compass offers three battery options. The entry-level electric version features a 74 kWh battery with a range of 500 kilometers, while the mid-tier and high-performance models come equipped with 96 kWh batteries, providing ranges of 650 and 600 kilometers, respectively. Notably, the top-tier electric variant is the only model to offer all-wheel drive, featuring an additional rear motor designed specifically for enhanced off-road performance.

In terms of design, the new Compass incorporates modern elements while respecting its heritage. The front fascia features a closed grille with small horizontal light segments, and the vehicle is adorned with several aesthetic touches that pay homage to Jeep's history, including the silhouette of the Willys Jeep on the hubcaps and the phrase “Since 1941” on the dashboard.

Inside, the Compass is equipped with a state-of-the-art infotainment system that includes a 16-inch central touchscreen and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. The system supports connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as over-the-air updates. The interior also offers increased storage capacity, with approximately 34 liters of additional space for personal items and a trunk capacity of 550 liters, which can be expanded further with a 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat.

Safety and driving assistance technologies are also a priority for the 2025 Compass. Standard features include Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities, adaptive cruise control, and various cameras to assist with parking and navigation. The vehicle's ruggedness is complemented by its off-road capabilities, including a ground clearance of up to 20 centimeters, an approach angle of 28 degrees, a departure angle of 30 degrees, and a wading depth of 48 centimeters for the all-wheel-drive version.

Pricing for the new Jeep Compass starts at under 40,000 euros for the base mild hybrid model, while the First Edition, featuring a 145 horsepower e-Hybrid version and a fully electric variant with 213 horsepower, is priced at 43,110 euros and 52,110 euros, respectively. As the Compass line expands, it is expected that the prices for the higher-end electric models will exceed 50,000 euros.

Fabio Catone, Jeep Brand Director for Greater Europe, emphasized the brand's commitment to innovation and sustainability, stating, "The new Jeep Compass boldly represents the brand's forward-thinking philosophy, highlighting our dedication to not only meeting today’s market demands but also anticipating tomorrow's opportunities." He added that the Compass is designed for both outdoor adventures and daily urban use, reflecting Jeep's versatility.

With its blend of advanced technology, spacious interior, and robust performance, the 2025 Jeep Compass is poised to capture the attention of SUV enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike, continuing the legacy of one of Jeep's most beloved models.
