Algeria Announces School Holiday Schedule For 2024/2025

Students can expect important breaks for rest and cultural celebrations throughout the academic year.

The second semester of the academic year in Algeria has officially commenced, with the Ministry of Education announcing the holiday schedule for students across all grade levels. These breaks, crucial for students' well-being, offer them essential respite after lengthy study periods.

In a recent statement, the Ministry clarified the timeline for various academic holidays throughout the semester, underlining how these periods are significant for recuperation and relaxation. With a busy curriculum ahead, students can look forward to these breaks, which also hold cultural importance.

Students will first enjoy the spring holiday, commencing on March 20, 2025, and concluding on April 6, 2025. This break marks the end of the second academic term, allowing students a much-needed pause from their studies.

Additionally, the summer holiday will take place from July 3, 2025, and will extend until the beginning of the next academic year, 2025/2026. This extended break provides students with ample time to recharge before returning to education.

The holiday schedule is as follows:


  • Spring holiday: March 20 – April 6, 2025.

  • Summer holiday: Begins July 3, 2025, ends with the start of the next school year.

In addition to academic breaks, Algeria celebrates several public holidays throughout the year, which all citizens observe. These occasions include various national, cultural, and religious festivities, underscoring the rich cultural tapestry of the nation.

  • July 5: Independence Day.

  • July 6: Islamic New Year.

  • July 17: Ashura.

  • September 15: Mawlid al-Nabi.
