ALEXANDER HERNANDEZ SECURES UNANIMOUS DECISION VICTORY AGAINST KURT HOLOBAUGH AT UFC FIGHT NIGHT 254

LAS VEGAS – Alexander Hernandez triumphed over Kurt Holobaugh with a unanimous decision on March 17, 2025, at UFC Fight Night 254 held at the UFC Apex. This victory marked Hernandez's second consecutive win, coming on the heels of what had been a challenging two-year stretch where he found himself with a disappointing 1-4 record.

Hernandez's performance was notable for its decisive nature, with scorecards reflecting his control and adaptability during the fight—30-27, 29-28, and 29-28 all favoring Hernandez. He demonstrated a well-rounded skill set, successfully blending his grappling and stand-up techniques.

Throughout the contest, Hernandez landed four out of five takedown attempts and showcased his ability to maintain over six minutes of control time. His ability to adapt during bouts—an aspect he emphasized—has been part of his growth as a fighter. "I think I finally showed [that] I’m pretty damn good all around," he commented after the fight.

Prior to the bout, Hernandez faced significant challenges, including dealing with four bulging discs and two herniated discs in his neck. "I was dealing with four bulging discs in my neck (and) two herniations. It was a headache this whole camp... it was alarming when you get up and your fingers are numb," he explained, referring to the obstacles he overcame leading up to the fight.

Despite the injuries, Hernandez was able to adjust during the fight itself. He experienced moments of paralysis during the bout but managed to refocus and secure his position against Holobaugh. "Whatever happened toward the end of the first round, I got hit with a clothesline or something…and I wasn’t able to fire off shots the way I like to," he recounted. "You make the adjustments and you make it happen." This adaptability is what Hernandez credits to his team's preparation and strategy.

The victory allowed Hernandez to improve his professional record to 16-8 with an 8-7 UFC standing, demonstrating resilience and determination to bounce back after considerable adversity. On the flip side, Kurth Holobaugh's record fell to 22-9, as he struggled to secure his position within the UFC, reflecting the increasing pressures and stakes of the competition.

Hernandez now eyes higher-ranked opponents, hopeful to capitalize on this recent success. He acknowledges the pressing need to address his health, recognizing the long-term consequences of his prior injuries. The path forward may be challenging, as his physical state remains pivotal to his fight strategy and overall performance.

Hernandez’s victory at UFC Fight Night 254 not only showcases his tenacity but also raises questions about the significance of health and recovery strategies within the sport—a recurring theme for fighters balancing performance with injury management.

This fight serves as both a moment of achievement for Hernandez and as a learning experience, solidifying his place among the UFC's competitive ranks, but also reminding him and his fans of the precarious balance between athletic excellence and physical well-being.
