AIS Reports Strong Q1 2025 Results Amid Economic Challenges

Advanced Info Service, known as AIS, has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2025, showcasing resilience with a total revenue of 56,311 million baht and a net profit of 10,584 million baht. This performance comes despite the ongoing fluctuations in the national economy and changing global contexts.

In a statement regarding the results, AIS emphasized its commitment to adapting its business strategies to align with these changes. The company is keen on enhancing the digital infrastructure of Thailand, which includes expanding its 5G networks, cloud systems, and data centers. This strategic focus is aimed at bolstering the country's competitiveness in the digital age.

The digital business segment has seen significant growth, boasting 45.7 million users, with the number of 5G users rising to 12.7 million, an increase of 708,500 from the previous quarter. As of April 2025, AIS's 5G network covers over 95% of the Thai population, a testament to the company's continuous efforts in expanding its smart network infrastructure to enhance the customer experience.

In the broadband sector, AIS 3BB FIBRE3 has also shown promising growth, adding 59,700 new subscribers, bringing the total to 5.1 million. The company continues to invest in its broadband fiber infrastructure to ensure comprehensive service availability for all households and businesses. This includes innovative packages like Super FAST and HOME FibreLAN, which are designed to elevate homes into smart living spaces through IoT devices.

Furthermore, AIS's enterprise customer services have experienced a revenue growth rate of 12%. The company is well-prepared to support the expansion of digital investments in Thailand, particularly through AI and cloud services. AIS is also gearing up to launch services in collaboration with global partners such as Oracle Cloud and GSA Data Center within the first half of this year.

According to a recent report, AIS's net profit of 10,584 million baht marks a 25% increase compared to the same quarter last year. This growth is attributed to lower financial costs and effective management strategies. The company also reported an EBITDA of 30,051 million baht, a rise of 7.4% year-on-year and a 3.8% increase from the previous quarter.

Despite the challenges posed by seasonal factors impacting mobile phone revenue and device sales, AIS managed to maintain its revenue from core services, which reached 41,929 million baht—up 6.3% from the previous year. The mobile service revenue alone accounted for 31,640 million baht, reflecting a 4.3% year-on-year growth, bolstered by improved Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).

However, the company noted a slight decline of 0.3% in mobile service revenue compared to the previous quarter, largely due to reduced roaming income following the peak tourist season.

Looking ahead, AIS remains optimistic about its growth trajectory. The company forecasts a service revenue growth of 3-5% for the year 2025, alongside an anticipated EBITDA growth of approximately 3-5%. To support these goals, AIS has set an investment budget ranging from 26,000 to 27,000 million baht.

In summary, AIS's robust performance in the first quarter of 2025 highlights its ability to navigate economic challenges while investing in future growth opportunities. As the company continues to enhance its digital infrastructure and service offerings, it aims to solidify its position as a leader in the telecommunications sector in Thailand.
