AI Consumer Market Booms With Innovative Smart Devices

The launch of new AI products drives consumer engagement and sales growth on major e-commerce platforms.

The AI consumer market is witnessing a significant surge post-Spring Festival 2025, with a remarkable increase in sales of AI smart devices on Tmall. During the recent Tmall 38 New Product Launch event, the number of newly launched AI intelligent devices saw a staggering 100% increase year-on-year. In March 2025, the popularity of AI robots surged, as searches for 'AI robots' on Tmall skyrocketed by an astounding 21 times compared to the previous year, yielding a transaction volume increase of 400% during the event.

Among these innovations, the Unitree Go2 robot dog, which gained immense popularity after its appearance on the Snake Year Spring Festival Gala, has emerged as the reigning star in the AI robotics sector. The Go2 robot dog, available in the Tmall flagship store, recorded a transaction volume increase of 43 times in March compared to the same month last year. This exceptional robot can converse in both Chinese and English and exhibits impressive physical feats such as walking on its hind legs, performing flips, and climbing obstacles.

Alongside robotics, AI glasses have also captured the attention of gadget enthusiasts and fashion aficionados alike. The search volume for 'AI glasses' on Tmall experienced a remarkable 140% growth in March 2025. Wellsenn's forecast indicates that global shipments of AI glasses are expected to reach 4 million units in 2025, as the market embraces this cutting-edge technology.

The significant rise in AI consumer products indicates a shift in consumer behavior, where innovative AI technology is increasingly viewed as a means to enhance efficiency, convenience, and personalized experiences. The sales data from e-commerce platforms strongly reflects the burgeoning trend in AI consumption, solidifying its position as a pivotal element in this year’s retail landscape.

In a parallel development, Alibaba recently upgraded its flagship application 'Kuake' on March 13, 2025, transforming it into the 'AI Super Frame' designed to address all-encompassing needs such as AI search, AI writing, AI image generation, and more. The idea behind the 'AI Super Frame' is to provide a cohesive ecosystem for users, facilitating seamless interactions with various applications under one platform.

This upgrade signals an evolution in how consumers interact with AI. As noted by Jassim Weisquette, a global technology leader at Edelman, most large language models (LLMs) are akin to Swiss Army knives packed with tools that can be both exciting and overwhelming. He emphasized that users primarily seek effective solutions rather than experimenting with AI technology. According to him, "A blank chat box is not a product, but homework."

He articulated the necessity for AI solutions that are not just proficient at small tasks (like chatting) but can effectively manage more complex demands, thus embodying a more profound utility to users—much like a personal assistant.

The AI Super Frame aims to create a 'super agent' capable of understanding user inputs, identifying needs, and executing tasks. For example, if one were to search for 'family-friendly accommodations in Beijing,' the AI Super Frame would not only provide a list of hotels but also secure complementary details such as nearby attractions, weather considerations, and additional user preferences.

Furthermore, this platform underscores a significant shift in the operational logic of AI applications. Unlike traditional search engines that merely return lists of results, the AI Super Frame translates user queries into a detailed action plan, engaging various modules that provide results tailored to individual needs.

From a broader perspective, this signifies a fundamental change in how AI integrates into everyday life and work. The transformation of Kuake from a singular tool into an integrated ecosystem reflects Alibaba’s strategy to meet emerging consumer expectations. As articulated by Alibaba Group Vice President Wu Jia, "The upgraded version is just the first incarnation of the new Kuake. With future developments, we hope the AI Super Frame will serve as a portal into the AI world for users."

With significant advancements and extensive market growth, the AI consumer space is clearly evolving, offering users unmatched utility through advanced AI interfaces. The emergence of products like the AI Super Frame suggests a future where AI not only assists users but actively engages with them, turning the realm of science fiction into a tangible reality.

Overall, both the flourishing AI consumer market and cutting-edge applications signify a robust trend that is reshaping consumer behavior and setting the stage for continued innovation in the world of artificial intelligence.
