Adam Elements Power Bank Recall After Explosion Injures User

Following recent incidents, the company has issued recalls and safety warnings for specific power bank models to protect consumers.

Safety concerns have emerged surrounding the power banks manufactured by Adam Elements following reports of one such device exploding and injuring a user. This alarming incident has raised questions about the safety of similar products and prompted the company’s swift response.

On the 21st of this month, a woman working in Taoyuan experienced severe burns after her GRAVITY CS5 magnetic power bank exploded. The blast resulted not only in second-degree burns on her face, but also singed her hair and clothing. Fortunately, quick action taken to cool the burns and medical attention prevented the situation from worsening.

This alarming incident has fueled discussions across social media, particularly as the customer stated she had purchased the product just last September and had been using it for less than six months. Adam Elements quickly reacted to the crisis by releasing an announcement on the 23rd, assuring the public they were addressing safety concerns and reaching out to assist the injured user.

According to Adam Elements, they have been proactive, contacting the victim immediately after the incident occurred, dispatching personnel to provide support, and committing to investigate the exact cause of the explosion. Confirming their commitment to consumer safety, the company stated, "We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused by this incident, and we promise to continue enhancing product quality and safety," as reported by ETtoday.

Following the reviews of safety and performance issues tied to the power bank, Adam Elements announced on social media the recall of certain batches including GRAVITY CS5 and CS10 models. Customers with affected products—where serial numbers end with A, BA, or BB—are advised to discontinue use and return them for free replacements.

These recalled model numbers are part of the company’s broader commitment to mitigate risks and address the issue confidently. The company has communicated to its consumers: "Please stop using the product and return it to us for free replacement," emphasizing their focus on consumer safety.

The recall raised additional concerns online, with many users calling out other models from the product line. A number of comments surfaced across social media platforms, as users shared experiences with overheating and functionality issues with the GRAVITY CS5 and others including the C2 model. Posts have included statements such as, "C5 charging also has overheating issues; can I return it?" Some customers also reported hearing unusual noises coming from their devices, leading to apprehension surrounding product safety.

Despite these troubling reports, Adam Elements maintains all of their charging products comply with the Ministry of Economic Affairs's safety standards. The company continues to assert their dedication to improving product safety, as investigations proceed to ascertain the root cause of the explosion.

To facilitate consumers eager to exchange their recalled products, Adam Elements established five main collection points across Taiwan, streamlining the return process for users affected by the recent recall. Major locations include their flagship repair center in Taipei and designated branches throughout the country. This will encourage consumers to act swiftly to return any potentially dangerous devices.

At the same time, the company has urged consumers to remain informed via their official website and social media channels for the most recent updates on the recall and safety measures being implemented. With the extent of the risks being evaluated, Adam Elements is under pressure to emerge from this incident with lessons learned and new safety improvements.

Reflecting on this incident, it’s clear consumer safety must always remain the priority for manufacturers, especially with devices utilizing lithium batteries, which have historically been linked to safety incidents. The fallout from this alarm is yet to be fully resolved as consumers continue to voice their concerns and the company works diligently to restore trust among its user base.
