Actors From 'La Moderna' Join 'Entre Tierras' For New Season

Helena Ezquerro and others transition to Antena 3's successful show as filming resumes soon.

Antena 3's hit series, 'Entre Tierras,' is gearing up for its second season, and it’s set to feature several familiar faces from the beloved series 'La Moderna,' which is now entering its finale on TVE. Starting next week, 'La 1' will alter its airing schedule, reducing the show to half an episode beginning at 5:05 p.m., just after 'Valle Salvaje,' which will also adjust its time slot.

Helena Ezquerro, who portrayed Matilde in the earlier seasons of 'La Moderna,' has officially signed on to join the cast of 'Entre Tierras.' This move follows the recent completion of the series on TVE, where Ezquerro captured the hearts of viewers. Joining her are fellow actors Carlos Serrano-Clark and Germán Alcarazu, who also played roles in 'La Moderna.'

The acclaimed drama, which saw immense viewership as the most watched show on Spanish television in 2024, is set to explore new narratives through10 new episodes of 50 minutes each.

'Entre Tierras' will continue the story of María, played by Megan Montaner, set two decades after the loss of her husband, Manuel. María's challenges are compounded as she strives to maintain the Cervantes' land and care for her two children, Nicolás and Manuela, who were not introduced to their father.

The show's storyline will navigate the struggles of rural life, including the pressure to adapt to newfound labor dynamics as new workers migrate, and the encroachment of ambitious business owners interested more in profit than preserving agricultural traditions. It marks the change looming over the agricultural world, where María will also encounter romantic possibilities, even as she grapples with her husband's memory and the inevitable changes such prospects entail.

Notably, Rodolfo Sancho is returning to the small screen as one of the key newcomers to the second season of 'Entre Tierras.' After taking time off to focus on legal matters concerning his son, Daniel Sancho, who was accused of murder in Thailand, Rodolfo steps back onto the television stage. His comeback has been warmly welcomed by fans, who recall his previous roles.

Sancho's return signifies more than just participation; it marks his re-entry after being central to public discourse for the past year due to the court case. He had filmed some prior works during this hiatus, including the series 'Zorro,' but this new role gives him the opportunity to create fresh interpretations within 'Entre Tierras.'

Alongside Montaner, the series will also enrich its ensemble with talents like Silvia Abascal, Ginés García Millán, José Pastor, and Itziar Miranda, alongside the returning cast members, Carlos Serrano and Clara Garrido.

While some actors from the first season, such as Unax Ugalde and Begoña Maestre will not return, the storyline promises gripping family dynamics, heart-wrenching themes of loss, class disparity, and the transition of rural life.

The forthcoming season seeks to balance these themes against the backdrop of familial struggles and love, as María is haunted by her past but driven by her desires.

Practically, filming is expected to commence soon, utilizing various locations across Almería and Castilla-La Mancha, adding cinematic flair to the already compelling narrative structure.

Helena Ezquerro, who stepped away from her role as Matilde, is excited about her involvement. Since childhood, she dreamed of acting, inspired by beloved characters like Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. Her commitment to this new role marks yet another step toward realizing her aspirations.

All eyes will be on 'Entre Tierras' when it premieres its second season. The anticipation surrounding the return of former 'La Moderna' actors promises viewers not only nostalgia but also fresh interactions and plot developments unearthing new dimensions within the world of rural Spain.

This next chapter signifies not just the continuation of María's story but also the significance of evolution, resilience, and the bonds of family within the changing dynamics faced by those living off the land. 'Entre Tierras' is expected to offer not only romance but also the depth and challenges of life, firmly rooting viewers’ attention and affection as the series dares to explore the transformation of its characters and their environment.
