Actor Ryo Yoshizawa Faces Backlash Following Unauthorized Entry Incident

The rising star's night of drinking leads to controversy and police investigation.

Actor Ryo Yoshizawa, known for his roles in various films and dramas, finds himself embroiled in controversy following an incident where he reportedly entered the apartment of his neighbor without permission. The incident occurred on December 30, 2024, and has raised significant attention in the media.

According to reports from ORICON NEWS and Weekly Woman PRIME, Yoshizawa returned home after a night of drinking and mistakenly entered the neighboring unit, believing it to be his own. The police are investigating this matter for potential unlawful entry. Yoshizawa’s management agency, Amuse, issued a statement confirming the incident and expressing their apologies. "He mistakenly entered the neighboring room instead of his own due to being drunk. We apologize for any inconvenience caused," Amuse stated.

The unauthorized entry was reported by the neighbor, who contacted the police upon discovering Yoshizawa. The police indicated the incident took place around 10:30 AM on December 30. Yoshizawa reportedly explained to authorities he had enjoyed several drinks the night before and simply "forgot his memory". He stated, "I think I entered because I needed to use the restroom." Fortunately, no injuries or damages occurred during the event, with the actor's stay lasting about five minutes.

Following the incident, Yoshizawa's agency confirmed on January 6, 2025, he has vacated the apartment to avoid any additional distress to the residents and urged the media to refrain from conducting interviews around the apartment complex. "Ryo has already vacated the apartment, and we kindly ask to refrain from press activities around the building," they reiterated.

The ramifications of this incident may have repercussions for Yoshizawa's professional endeavors. He is currently the face of Asahi Beer’s Dry Crystal commercial, which has come under scrutiny following the news. Although Yoshizawa’s image remains on their website at present, it remains uncertain how this event will affect his future engagements. Representatives from Shinchosha, the distributor of his upcoming film "Babamba Ban Ban Vampire," expressed they would discuss the matter internally following the incident.

Yoshizawa has made previous headlines with his notable performances, particularly for his leading role in the NHK historical drama "Seiten wo Tsuke". This recent setback, coming off his latest acting successes, poses questions about his public image moving forward.

Despite the challenges, it is clear this incident serves as a cautionary tale about the difficulties celebrities face when their private lives intersect publicly. Yoshizawa's case reflects the challenges many public figures encounter when personal issues lead to controversy, and how sobriety is key to maintaining one's professional image.

Many within the industry offer words of support for Yoshizawa, emphasizing the need for compassion as he navigates through this personal crisis. The situation brings forth the continual balance public figures must strike between their personal lives and professional commitments, especially when those two worlds collide. While the effects of his actions may take time to unravel, only time will tell how this incident will alter the narrative surrounding Ryo Yoshizawa's career.
