Among the notable participants this year will be the renowned enka singer 水森かおり (Kawori Mizumori), who will be taking the stage for the 22nd consecutive year. She finds herself back with another creative twist on the traditional performance format, showcasing her performance themed around the challenge "演歌×ドミノ" (Enka x Domino). Mizumori plans to present her special rendition of the local song for Tottori, "鳥取砂丘~紅白ドミノチャレンジSP~" (Tottori Sand Dunes - Kohaku Domino Challenge SP). Last year, the challenge garnered immense popularity, and this year promises even more elaborate domino setups, illustrating the stunning beauty of Tottori as the dominos fall with grace.

On the white team, icon 郷ひろみ (Hiromi Go) also brings excitement with his special stage celebrating the 100th anniversary of broadcasting entitled "2億4千万の瞳 放送100年 GO!GO!SP" (240 Million Eyes 100 Years of Broadcasting GO!GO!SP). He is anticipated to transport audiences to euphoric moments filled with nostalgia through his performances and the use of NHK's archival footage.

The innovative band Omoinotake will be making their inaugural appearance at the Kohaku Uta Gassen. Their introduction to this esteemed platform shows the show’s commitment to inclusivity, presenting upcoming talents alongside seasoned stars. Jolting the stage with their unique sound, they aim to mark their presence prominently during the event.

Other anticipated performances include JO1's interactive stage featuring their song "Love Seeker," inviting viewers to participate actively as they search for 'love' through specially choreographed acts utilizing heart-shaped props. This first-of-its-kind performance scheme fosters real-time engagement with the audience, exemplifying the fusion of technology and live music formats.

Enthusiasm builds as 新浜レオン (Leon Niihama) prepares to showcase his talent through special performances and exciting challenges. Known for his stunning vocal prowess and charisma, he adds another layer of entertainment to the event. He has expressed his ambition to provide audiences with spectacular moments rivaling last year's highlights.

The performance from experienced artists like 三山ひろし (Hiroshi Miyama) is also renowned, especially his fan-favorite "けん玉世界記録へ" (Towards the Kendama World Record), where he challenges the limits of skill and perseverance. For this installment, he aims to break last year's record, creating exhilarating suspense throughout the audience.

Audiences can look forward to various other artists including the likes of Aiko, who will perform her theme song for the hit anime "名探偵コナン" (Detective Conan), the invigorated band Koda Kumi and many more. Indeed, this year's NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen - renowned for marking the end of the year and bringing families together - offers something for everyone.
