2025 Wedding Trends Favor Natural Venues And Historic Homes

A shift towards gardens, greenhouses, and rustic settings defines upcoming wedding preferences in Italy.

Choosing the perfect wedding venue is one of the most challenging tasks for engaged couples. In the past, many opted for luxurious restaurants or seaside villas, but recent trends indicate a shift towards more natural settings. With a renewed love for the outdoors, gardens, greenhouses, and historic homes are becoming increasingly popular choices for weddings.

The primary factor influencing the selection of wedding venues is the beauty of the location. This insight comes from "Il Libro Bianco del Matrimonio," published by Matrimonio.com in collaboration with Carles Torrecilla, Google, and Esade Business School. The report emphasizes the emotional and aesthetic importance of the venue in the decision-making process.

This trend is leading to a significant transformation in the wedding industry. According to the "Rapporto sul Settore Nuziale 2025" from Matrimonio.com, 29% of couples are expected to choose villas, while 24% prefer wedding venues, surpassing traditional choices like restaurants (16%) and reception halls (6%).

For 2025, rustic countryside weddings are also on the rise, with 3 out of 10 weddings being held in farmhouses, masserie, or trulli. Additionally, greenhouses are gaining traction, accounting for 13% of venue choices, alongside outdoor locations such as woods and gardens (10%). Structures in castles, beaches, and mountains will host 10%, 3%, and 2% of receptions, respectively.

To help couples find their dream venue, Matrimonio.com has selected ten stunning locations in Italy that cater to various preferences. Here are some highlights:
