Shifting to the interior design arena, the Pantone Color of the Year 2025 is Mocha Mousse, described as a warm and sophisticated brown tone. This trend promotes the use of eco-friendly materials, crafting green spaces where wellness and nature coexist harmoniously. Through textures like recycled wood and natural stone, interiors convey warmth and connection to the earth.

Colors will not only include neutrals but also earthy shades like olive green, mineral blue, and terracotta—tones inspired by nature. Incorporation of metallic accents, particularly gold, bronze, and copper, will add sophistication and luxury to environments, marrying organic and modern touches seamlessly.

Căpitanu emphasizes, “The concept of sustainability luxe involves premium but eco-friendly materials and innovative technologies.” This approach focuses on creating spaces rich with meaning and resonance for occupants, making each design unique and personal.

Moving away from rigid minimalism, the trend for 2025 embraces more personalized and expressive styles. “Interior design is now about authenticity, crafting spaces reflecting the identity of those who inhabit them without sacrificing visual balance,” adds Căpitanu. Simple strategies such as rearranging furniture or incorporating warm textiles are recommended for those wishing to adjust their homes without substantial expenses.

The walls of these trendy interiors are transcending their traditional roles, becoming canvases for artistic expressions through textured wallpaper, 3D decorative panels, and contemporary art. These elements, according to design specialists, will enliven living spaces with dynamics and depth.

Shifting gears to food retail, the next decade promises significant developments marked by three major trends: technologization, digitalization, and sustainability. Marco Hößl, CEO of Kaufland Romania, one of the largest grocery retailers, articulates these shifts as foundational to their mission moving forward.

“Technologization will help streamline operations from store construction to product distribution and the shopping experience itself,” explains Hößl. Digitalization is no longer just desirable but has become a strategic asset, enhancing how customers interact with retailers.

By investing in technologies like artificial intelligence for inventory management and personalized offers, Kaufland is crafting simplified and efficient shopping experiences. “Our goal is to optimize energy consumption through IoT solutions and make interactions faster and smoother,” asserts Hößl.

Sustainability is now ingrained within customer purchasing decisions, prompting Kaufland to establish measurable objectives and firm strategies. The company is actively reducing its carbon footprint through the implementation of solar power installations across many of its locations, aiming for climate neutrality by 2050.

“From 6.6 million euros allocated to social responsibility initiatives in 2018, we’ve increased our commitment to nearly 10 million euros by 2023,” highlights Hößl, illustrating the company’s dedication to community impact.

Taking these forecasts together, 2025 is shaping up to be rich with innovation and nostalgia, where beauty, design, and consumer experiences weave together past influences and future aspirations.
