The Brazilian government has revealed the schedule for the PIS/Pasep abono salarial payments for 2025, initiating on February 17 for workers born in January and concluding on August 15 for those born in November and December. This important announcement aims to benefit approximately 25.8 million workers.
The initiative, sanctioned by the Conselho Deliberativo do Fundo de Amparo ao Trabalhador (FAT), has been established to distribute the abono salarial, which is available to those who have had formal employment during the previous year. The total budget allocated for this year's payouts amounts to R$ 30.7 billion, covering the payments to eligible individuals.
To qualify for the PIS/Pasep payments, workers must meet specific criteria. They must have been employed formally for at least 30 days during the prior year, have been registered under the PIS/Pasep program for at least five years, and earn up to two minimum wages, which translates to R$ 2,640. The abono salary can be accessed through Caixa Econômica Federal for PIS recipients or Banco do Brasil for Pasep beneficiaries.
"Aprovação do calendário de pagamento do abono salarial (PIS/Pasep) para 2025," said representatives from FAT, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring financial support reaches eligible individuals.
The payment schedule starts on February 17, when individuals born in January can first access their benefits. Subsequent payment batches will be available for each subsequent month until the final cutoff date of August 15, 2025, for those born in November and December. It will be carried out primarily via account credits or through withdrawals at ATMs and lotteries.
For those wishing to check their eligibility, consultations will become available beginning February 5, 2025. Interested practitioners can access the necessary information through several platforms, including the Caixa Trabalhador app, the Digital Work Card app, or the official website at gov.br. Workers can even consult the ALÔ TRABALHO hotline (158) for assistance.
With the substantial number of individuals expected to benefit from this initiative, planners are optimistic about the potential economic impact. The PIS/Pasep payments serve as not only financial relief for many but also act as significant stimulants for local economies throughout Brazil.
The conclusion of the cash distribution is set for December 27, where workers who have yet to claim their 2024 abono will also be able to access funds from previous years as well. The government encourages all eligible workers to prepare for the upcoming timeline and utilize the available resources to reclaim any outstanding payments.
