IPB University is set to open its new student admissions via the OSIS Chairman Route at the start of May 2025. This program is aimed at acknowledging leadership qualities, organizational skills, and experience candidates have gained through managing organizations. Utami Dyah Syafitri, the Director of Educational Administration and New Student Admissions, explains this initiative not only enriches the diversity of academic skills among students but also enhances the variation of non-academic talents. The goal is to develop individuals who will contribute positively to the campus culture.
According to information sourced from IPB University, the OSIS Chairman Route is part of the independent selection process to attract candidates who have exhibited leadership qualities during their time as chairperson of the OSIS at their high schools. Alongside the necessary leadership experience, candidates must also demonstrate strong academic achievements to qualify for education at IPB University.
Through this path, the university aims to create future leaders across various sectors—national, regional, corporate, and community—by fostering scientific-based leadership. Candidates must be 2025 graduates and have served at least one term as OSIS chairman at SMA/MA/SMK, substantiated by both a recommendation letter from the school principal and the official appointment letter as OSIS chairperson.
Mandatory documents for upload during registration include: 1. A recent photo against a red or white background.
Besides the OSIS Chairman Route, the Indonesian Government has established guidelines for new student admissions across schools, through the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 of 2025. This regulation aims to create educational equality and ensures every student receives their educational rights as outlined under applicable rules.
The New Student Admission System comprises four main routes:
- Residential Route: Candidates are accepted based on their proximity to the intended school.
- Aspiration Route: This is a special path for candidates from underprivileged families, supported by official documentation.
- Achievement Route: This offers opportunities for candidates with significant academic or non-academic achievements.
- Mutation Route: Designed for candidates whose parents have relocated for work purposes.
General requirements to enroll as 10th-grade students at SMA/SMK include being no older than 21 years by July 1 of the relevant year and having completed the SMP or its equivalent.
For vocational schools (SMK) with certain specialties, there may be additional requirements based on the program or skill competencies offered. These overarching guidelines aim to streamline admissions and facilitate access to quality educational opportunities for all students, ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of Indonesia's educational system.
Schools are encouraged to communicate clearly with potential candidates about the admissions process, dates, and specific documentation needed. The coordination and support from educational authorities will be pivotal to ensuring the new rules are implemented smoothly.
Prospective students and their families are urged to stay informed about any updates related to admission processes and requirements, as these guidelines pave the way for equal educational opportunities to flourish.
Overall, the 2025 admission framework reflects Indonesia's commitment to improving its educational system, ensuring it meets the diverse needs of students, regardless of their backgrounds.
