2025 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Delivers Fashion Hits And Misses

Stars shine and stumble on the red carpet as the ceremony raises funds for wildfire relief efforts.

The 2025 Grammy Awards have officially kicked off for the night—and what a night it was! Held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the star-studded event drew Hollywood's finest, showcasing some jaw-dropping fashion choices, alongside some major misses. This year’s ceremony was particularly poignant, as it aimed to honor the year’s best talent in music, all the whilst raising additional funds for wildfire relief efforts following the devastating wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area last month.

Hosted by comedian Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive year, the event featured eye-catching performances from the likes of Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Charli XCX, all ready to compete for prestigious awards like Album of the Year.

The red carpet was once again the spotlight of the evening, with many predicting outrageous looks—and some didn't disappoint! Kanye West and his wife Bianca Censori made headlines for their bold and somewhat scandalous appearances. Censori, dressed in nothing more than a sheer mini dress, left little to the imagination, drawing shocked gasps from onlookers and paparazzi alike. West, sporting an all-black ensemble to complement his wife, had initially shared his admiration for the custom dress on Instagram, stating, "Custom Couture Grammy dress for the most beautiful ever. My love, my best friend and my wife." Ironically, shortly after, both he and Censori were reportedly escorted from the venue, perhaps for being uninvited.

Chappell Roan also grabbed attention with her layered blue-and-gold Marie Antoinette-inspired frock, which included teal-colored mesh gloves and dramatic makeup—though some fashion critics felt her feathered headpiece missed the mark. Gracie Abrams took the crowd by storm with her bridal-esque, cream-colored dress complete with headscarf and romantic train, seemingly sending wedding bells ringing on the carpet.

Meanwhile, Jaden Smith embraced his avant-garde side with an all-black, structured suit, complete with an elaborate castle-shaped hat, coupled with sneakers and quirky accessories. Not to be outdone, Will Smith made his mark with a black suit accented by silver buckles, expressing his own statement style.

Then there was Marla Maples, initiative president Donald Trump's second wife, who arrived wearing a high-necked silk dress! Her look, unfortunately, garnered mixed reviews due to what many perceived as ill-fitting tailoring.

Billie Eilish, known for her unique fashion sense, channeled early 2000s vibes with her ensemble of top hats and ties, but many felt she missed the mark this time as well. Lady Gaga surprised fans with her goth-inspired outfit, showcasing a black leather corset with dramatic skirt flair, coupled with micro bangs to complete her look.

Breaking from the traditional glam, Canadian music producer Shaw Everett resembled someone more suited for household chores than the red carpet, sporting red rubber gloves and an Adidas track dress, leaving many baffled by his choice. Jessie Jo Dillon turned heads with her blue silk two-piece adorned with flaming Ace of Spades, making it look like a trip to Las Vegas rather than the Grammy Awards!

Sheryl Crow kept it more casual, opting for a chevron-print strapless maxi dress, accessorized with gold-and-turquoise jewelry. Teddy Swims dazzled onlookers wearing a dramatic gold suit, peppered with colorful pearls, paired with western-style boots and a matching pearl-adorned cap.

Chrissy Teigen, perhaps controversially, opted for yet another sheer look, leaving fans divided with her black mesh dress featuring corseted details and tiered skirt. And Madison Beer? Well, she joined the sheer dress club with her own form-fitting lace number, enhanced with shimmering floral embellishments, successfully embracing the ‘bare it all’ trend on the glamorous evening.

All the glitz and glamour aside, the night also belonged to the award winners. Beyoncé made headlines when she took home the Album of the Year honor for the first time, marking her release, Cowboy Carter, which was also awarded Best Country Album. Breakout artist Doechii made history by being the second woman to ever win Best Rap Album, with her captivating Alligator Bites Never Heal.

While the fashion was both celebrated and criticized, it overshadowed the underlying theme of resilience amid tragedy. The event’s organizers made it clear they wanted to honor the bravery of first responders and victims of the wildfires, making this year’s Grammys not just about awards but about support and recovery. Amidst the vibrant backdrop of fashion and music, emotions ran high. This glorious night showcased not just talent but also the power of community and expression. The 2025 Grammy Awards may be remembered for many reasons, but none more so than the unforgettable statements made both on and off the stage.
