The Ministry of Education has recently published the correction scales and subjects for the Romanian Language and Literature exam as part of the 2025 Baccalaureate simulation, conducted on March 24, 2025. This year, over 101,000 students participated in the testing process, a significant turnout compared to the approximately 123,000 students registered across the country.
Beginning at 9:00 AM and concluding three hours later at 12:00 PM, twelfth and thirteenth graders faced the first substantial written test of their academic year. This examination is crucial for students, as it serves as a preparatory measure ahead of the final Baccalaureate exams occurring in June. At 3:00 PM on the same day, the Ministry released the correction scales which will guide the grading process.
As per the data reported by the Ministry of Education, attendance for the simulation was recorded at an impressive 82%, with participation rates indicating a high level of student engagement. "According to data received from county school inspectorates, attendance was 82% with over 101,000 students present," said a spokesperson from the Ministry. This reflects a strong commitment among students to demonstrate their knowledge and preparedness.
Unfortunately, the examination was not without its challenges, as one student was eliminated from the exam due to an attempted cheating incident. Such actions highlight the strict policies in place designed to maintain the integrity of academic assessments.
The test consisted of three main components: the first required students to analyze a passage from Liviu Rusu, drawn from the volume "Evocări" by Ștefan Augustin Doinaș. In the second part, candidates commented on a chosen poem, while the essay section prompted students to explore the characteristics of a psychological novel or a studied experience. The pedagogical profile students faced slightly different requirements, particularly in their essay prompts, which revolved around character construction.
Looking ahead, the simulation for the mandatory subject test is scheduled for March 25, followed by the subject of choice test on March 26, and the Mother Tongue and Literature test on March 27. This series of exams will not only test students' knowledge but also help educators identify areas needing improvement.
One of the primary goals of conducting simulations prior to actual examinations is to improve student performance and readiness. "The objective pursued is to adopt the most suitable measures to improve school performance in view of the June and August 2025 examination," emphasized the Ministry of Education. The data collected from this simulation will be utilized to help teachers and students formulate more effective study plans.
Furthermore, it was noted that the results from these simulations will not impact students' official academic records unless specifically requested by them, allowing for a no-penalty assessment environment. The individual results will be communicated to the students on April 8, 2025, fostering discussions between educators and learners on how best to enhance their readiness for the upcoming academic challenges.
This proactive educational strategy ensures that students remain focused and well-prepared as they approach the final Baccalaureate examinations. Through the Baccalaureate simulation, the Ministry of Education aims to uphold educational standards and promote academic integrity while providing students with a platform to demonstrate their capabilities under exam conditions.
The 2025 Baccalaureate examinations will officially commence on June 10, 2025, with results set to be published by June 30, 2025. Students, teachers, and parents alike are encouraged to engage actively in this preparation phase to maximize success rates once the actual exams begin. As such, the timing of this simulation serves as a critical indicator of both student readiness and institutional support in the progression toward final assessments.
