2024 Trends Show Shift Toward Life Skills Education And Fashion Changes

A growing focus on life skills reflects societal changes, as fashion trends fluctuate based on consumer preferences.

Vietnam's societal shifts are reflected vividly in Google’s Year 2024 search trends, particularly the rising interest in life skills education for elementary students and the changing tides of fashion preferences. This year, the search term "Kỹ năng sống cho học sinh tiểu học" (Life skills for elementary students) emerged among the top trends, signaling growing recognition of the importance of comprehensive education for children.

Reported by Google, the surge indicates not just curiosity but serious concern among parents and educators about equipping children with necessary life skills. With the rise of life skills being incorporated within various subjects like Vietnamese, Moral Education, and Natural and Social Sciences, schools are responding to this societal call. For example, second graders are now taught important skills such as seeking help when facing emergencies or managing dangerous situations. This shift reflects parental desires to supplement academic learning with practical life competencies.

While some schools are integrating life skills education, challenges persist. A significant number struggle with resource shortages and lack of trained professionals. Often, the pressing questions for parents include what specific skills are worth learning, where children should learn them, and the costs involved. Many have acknowledged the necessity for children to acquire soft skills to succeed not just academically but also personally and globally.

Interestingly, the trends extend beyond education to fashion—another domain where consumer behavior is decisive. Analysts using tools like Google Trends and Stylight have noted several trends declining as we approach 2025. For example, the beloved "Adidas Samba" shoes, once donned by stars like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, now show interest waning with reports of 5% fewer searches and a general interest decrease of 14% since April 2024.

Similarly, the leopard print pattern, once considered fashionable, is now facing declining interest, with search queries down by 71%. Although still seen sporadically, the enthusiasm surrounding these items has significantly cooled as fashion flucuates weekly.

Further, long denim dresses, which have soared due to their comfort and versatility this year, now see their spotlight fading, indicated by a 20% drop in relevance as per Google data. Comfort still holds weight among consumers, as alternative styles like pencil skirts continue to resonate well with fashion lovers.

The Western-style Santiags boots, influenced by rising country music and Hollywood trends, wowed onlookers this year. Yet even this trend is receiving less attention, with reported drops of 12% from Stylight’s assessments. This marks the fashion industry's cyclical nature, as trends inevitably evolve.

The festive recognition of Agribank's Plus App also warrants mention. On December 20, 2024, Agribank was honored at the annual event highlighting the top 10 reputable products and services for Vietnamese consumers. Their app demonstrates efficacy and convenience, contributing positively to the trend toward sustainability and proficient financial capability.
