2024 LCK Awards Ceremony Celebrates Top Players

Stars of the League of Legends community gathered to honor exceptional talent and achievements from the season.

The 2024 LCK (League of Legends Champions Korea) awards were held on December 29 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) Art Hall 1 in Seoul, bringing together top players dressed formally instead of their usual competitive uniforms.

This year’s ceremony was highlighted by several prestigious awards recognizing the contributions of standout players during the season. Among the celebrated individuals, Lee Sang-hyuk, known as Faker, claimed the esteemed title of 'Player of the Year'. His achievements have set him apart as one of the leading figures of the tournament.

Faker was not alone at the top. Jeong Ji-hoon, or Chovy, had his stellar year acknowledged as he received two regular season MVP awards, adding to his accolades after leading his team, Gen.G, through successful Spring and Summer splits. He ended the awards with five trophies for his performances, establishing himself as the most awarded player of the night.

Matching this caliber of performance was Cho Young-uk, known as Lucid, who was celebrated as the 'Rookie of the Year'. Lucid, playing for Dplus Kia, stepped up significantly after joining the roster, particularly after his predecessor left for another team. His valuable contribution aided Dplus Kia's playoff qualification and participation in the World Championship.

Other notable categories were dominated by players of T1, which included Min-hyung Lee (Gumayusi) taking home the award for 'Best AD Carry', and Min-seok Ryu (Keria) receiving the prize for 'Best Support'. Both have shown exceptional teamwork and skills throughout the season.

During the ceremony, special awards were also presented, recognizing corporate sponsors and their contributions to the league. Significant awards included the 'Best Power Play' awarded to Kim Ha-ram (Aiming) from Dplus Kia and the 'All LCK 1st Team' recognition which showcased the top-performing athletes across various roles such as mid-lane, jungle, and support.

Faker's reaffirmation of his status came as he retained the 'OP.GG Search King' award, highlighting not only his skill but also the fanfare surrounding his career.

The atmosphere was celebratory as fellow competitors and fans alike praised the outstanding performances of athletes who have dedicated themselves to developing the League of Legends esports scene throughout the year.

The event culminated with heartfelt speeches from award recipients, expressing gratitude to their teammates, coaching staff, and most of all, the fans who have supported them during their gaming journeys.

Continuing the legacy of high-level competition and sportsmanship, the 2024 LCK Awards served as both a celebration of the past season and as motivation for the upcoming competitive year, fostering high expectations for player performances and setting the bar for esports excellence moving forward.
