Vinitaly 2025, the premier event for the Italian wine sector, is set to take place from April 6 to April 9, 2025, in Verona, showcasing the best of Italian viticulture to an international audience. This year marks the 57th edition of the event, which has become a crucial platform for promoting Italian wines and fostering global business connections.
According to Adolfo Rebughini, the director general of Veronafiere, the event will feature numerous highlights including Opera Wine, Vinitaly & The City, and the opening ceremony. Notably, the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Osteria Francescana, renowned chef Massimo Bottura’s acclaimed restaurant, will also be part of the festivities. "Vinitaly is the platform that allows us to stay updated on the latest trends in wine," Rebughini stated.
With 4,000 exhibiting companies and buyers from 140 countries expected to attend, Vinitaly continues to solidify its role as a strategic hub for international wine business. The event aims to attract around 30,000 international buyers, with a particular focus on operators from the United States. This year, the collaboration with Agenzia ICE has resulted in the selection of 1,200 top buyers from 71 different countries, marking an increase from the previous year.
During the official presentation of Vinitaly 2025 in Rome, key figures from the wine industry and government officials discussed the importance of the event. Federico Bricolo, President of Veronafiere, emphasized the efforts made in recent years to enhance promotion and competitiveness for the sector. "Today, Vinitaly represents the natural aggregator of Italian wine in major target markets," Bricolo remarked, highlighting the importance of the event in navigating the complex current landscape.
This year’s event will also place special emphasis on emerging trends in wine consumption. A focus from the Uiv-Vinitaly Observatory examined the habits of consumers under 44 years old in both Italy and the United States, revealing insights into new consumption patterns.
Vinitaly 2025 is not just a showcase of current trends; it aims to anticipate and shape the future of the wine industry. One of the exciting new features this year is Vinitaly Tourism, which will focus on wine tourism and include participation from international tour operators specializing in this sector. Additionally, the event will dedicate significant space to NoLo (low & no alcohol) wines, which are increasingly popular among consumers.
Furthermore, the RAW Wine and Amphora Revolution will also be part of the program, showcasing innovative approaches and products in the wine market. Maurizio Danese, the CEO of Veronafiere, reiterated the importance of the transformation that began a decade ago, stating, "The shift started ten years ago, with a clear division between business at the fair and wine lovers in the city, has now become irreversible. This will develop further in our future strategic plans for Veronafiere."
The event not only serves as a platform for showcasing Italian wines but also plays a vital role in promoting the sector's internationalization. The presence of large delegations from the United States, Canada, China, the United Kingdom, and Brazil, as well as representatives from India, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea, underscores the global appeal of Vinitaly.
As the countdown to Vinitaly 2025 continues, the anticipation grows for what promises to be an extraordinary event that will highlight the richness and diversity of Italian wines. With a program rich in innovative content and an increasing focus on international markets, Vinitaly is set to reaffirm its status as a reference point for Italian wines globally.
In summary, Vinitaly 2025 is not just an exhibition; it is a celebration of Italian wine culture and a critical meeting point for industry professionals. As the event approaches, it is clear that the commitment to promoting Italian wines and enhancing their competitiveness on the world stage remains stronger than ever. Participants and attendees alike can look forward to an event filled with opportunities for networking, learning, and celebrating the art of winemaking.
