Naichu Suffers Facial Fracture, Takes Hiatus From Performances

The Knites comedian suffers injury during public engagement, prompting agency to confirm temporary withdrawal from scheduled gigs.

Naichu, the popular member of the Japanese comedy duo Knites, has announced his hiatus due to suffering from a facial fracture. This was confirmed by his agency, Masaki Entertainment, on February 27, 2025. The injury occurred on the evening of February 25, when he reportedly fell on the street during what was meant to be a routine outing.

Specifically, the incident took place as Naichu was engaging with fans during promotional activities related to their latest project, and he stumbled, leading to the fracture. His agency took to their official website to disclose the situation, stating, "Naichu sustained injuries to his face on February 25, for which he will need to take time off to recover. We sincerely apologize for the concern and inconvenience this may have caused to everyone." They also noted the timing of his potential return would be contingent on the healing process.

Naichu's absence is particularly felt as he was scheduled to participate in the upcoming “Manzai Summit in Sendai” on March 2. Given his injury, he will not perform, and his partner, Tsuchiya Nobuyuki, will proceed with the event alongside guest performers. For the listeners of the Nippon Broadcasting show “Knites The Radio Show,” Naichu has been absent for the past two episodes (February 26 and 27), leaving his co-host to explain the reason for his absence during broadcast.

His partner expressed concern during the show, mentioning Naichu's fall whilst engaging with fans on location. “It's unfortunate, we are hoping for his swift recovery,” remarked Tsuchiya. Other comedians such as Moguraida's Tomoshige stepped in for their scheduled performances to fill the gap left by Naichu's unexpected hiatus.

Fans have expressed their support and concern online following the announcement, hoping for Naichu's quick recovery. Many took to social media platforms to send messages of encouragement, emphasizing how much they miss his presence and humor.

A scheduled appearance on March 1, at the Tokyo Toranomon for the Giants vs. Tigers event, also raises questions about who might take Naichu’s place if he is still unable to perform. The event, which centers around his known fandom for the Giants, has prompted inquiries from those organizing about potential substitutes. The producer of the event revealed they had reached out to Naichu’s brother, Hanawa, who is also known for being hugely supportive of the Giants and has agreed to step in if circumstances hold.

"It was quite the rush today but after I spoke with Naichu, we quickly considered the possibility of having Hanawa fill in," said the producer. "He is just as much of a Giants fan as Naichu! With his charisma, we believe he can bring the same energy to the stage as his brother would." Fans are hopeful both for Naichu’s recovery and for finding joy and humor as Hanawa steps onto the stage, melding family ties with their shared love for the game.

Naichu's situation serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of life, even for those who make careers out of bringing laughter to others. His next steps remain uncertain but crew members and fans alike are rallying for his return to the screen and stage, where he has consistently entertained over the years.

Overall, as Naichu takes this necessary break, many will be standing by, ready to support his recovery and eager for his eventual return to the beloved comedic scene.
