Gran Turismo 7 Update Set For February 27 Debut

Players can expect new cars, races, and enhanced AI features for the beloved racing game

The world of racing simulation is about to get even more thrilling as Gran Turismo 7 gears up for its latest content update, version 1.56, set to arrive on February 27, 2025, for both PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles. Players can expect several new cars, features, and exciting gameplay additions, ensuring the game remains fresh and engaging for enthusiasts.

Polyphony Digital studio head Kazunori Yamauchi teased the update earlier this month, hinting at the vehicles to be included through lithe silhouettes, which fired up guesswork within the gaming community. A trailer recently released offered fans their first glimpse of the new content, confirming the arrival of several fan-favorite cars alongside new features which heighten the gaming experience.

Among the standout additions this update introduces are three exciting vehicles:

  • BMW Z4 3.0i (2003) – Available through Brand Central and used cars

  • Peugeot 205 GTI (1988) – A classic available from used cars

  • Mercedes-Benz Unimog 411 (1962) – A special addition classified as Legends Cars

The inclusion of the Mercedes-Benz Unimog 411, one of the most unique vehicles ever featured within the Gran Turismo franchise, is particularly noteworthy. Known for its capabilities rather than speed, the Unimog’s modest 34 horsepower air-cooled diesel engine makes it more of a collector’s item than a racing contender. Players will find the 1988 Peugeot 205 GTI to be delightfully nimble, representing the epitome of the charming hot-hatch era, complemented by the BMW Z4, which adds flair from the early 2000s to the roster.

While the precise cost of these vehicles hasn’t been disclosed, predictions suggest they won’t break the bank, with their combined cost hovering around 250,000 credits. Notably, if players are interested in the new paint scheme for the Mazda 3 Gr4 race car, they should expect to pay 350,000 credits, making it one of the pricier options.

Aside from new cars, the update brings more challenges with the introduction of new races across existing World Circuits. Three brand-new race events will be organized, each for the newly introduced vehicles, ensuring players can put their latest acquisitions to the test:

  • European FR Challenge 550 at Autodrome Lago Maggiore East (BMW Z4)

  • European Sunday Cup 400 at Grand Valley South (Peugeot 205 GTI)

  • Sunday Cup Classic at Red Bull Ring Short (Unimog 411)

A fresh Extra Menu Book centered around Peugeot will also be part of this patch. Players will be required to obtain the 205 GTI and other associated vehicles to complete this menu, and rewards for completing it are likely to involve standard five- and six-star Roulettes.

Moving on to enhancements inside the game, update 1.56 embraces technology with the expansion of GT Sophy, the machine-learning AI, introducing two new tracks: Monza’s full course layout and the Sardegna Road Track B. While only PlayStation 5 users can access this cutting-edge feature, it’s set to bring advanced competitive dynamics to these racing environments.

Gran Turismo 7 has continually sought ways to keep its content vibrant, and this update is no exception. The introduction of 13 new Scapes locations, themed around rapidly moving cars, allows players to capture thrilling images within the game. The vivid panning feature highlights race tracks accompanied by colorful backdrops, offering players the chance to take spectacular shots.

While the full patch notes will only be released upon the update's arrival, gamers are excited about the possibility of engine swaps and improvements to older vehicles, particularly as players eagerly await enhancements, including the long-anticipated signage changes at Suzuka.

Scheduled to launch around 0600 UTC on February 27, Gran Turismo 7's Update 1.56 is generating anticipation among players eager for new content. Whether through acquiring new cars, competing in fresh races, or utilizing advanced AI, the update is shaping up to be one of the most engaging installments for the franchise yet.
