Getting a table at Kansas City’s newest culinary hotspot, 1587 Prime, is no easy feat. The steakhouse, co-founded by NFL superstars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes in partnership with hospitality group Noble 33, has been the talk of the town since reservations dropped in August 2025. According to Insider, tables were snapped up within minutes, with bookings fully reserved through late October—months before the restaurant even opened its doors on September 17.
But for those lucky enough to snag a reservation, the experience is every bit as dazzling as the hype suggests. On Saturday, October 18, a group of four Chiefs fans—including a longtime admirer of Kelce (and, yes, a self-proclaimed Swiftie)—set out to see if the reality matched their sky-high expectations. Their verdict? The night was a blend of luxury, local flavor, and a dash of celebrity sparkle, all wrapped up in a bill just shy of $800 before tip.
Located inside the Loews Hotel in downtown Kansas City, 1587 Prime greets guests with an air of opulence. Marble doorways, gold accents, and glass-front cases displaying large cuts of meat set the stage, while an illuminated staircase and walls lined with wine bottles add to the sense of occasion. The restaurant enforces a business casual or dressy evening wear dress code, and children under 16 are not permitted after 7 p.m., ensuring an ambiance that’s lively yet intimate—a place where every detail feels intentional.
Live music is a nightly feature. On this particular Saturday, a jazz and R&B band played at just the right volume, alternating sets with a playlist that had the party pausing their conversation to comment on the stellar song choices. "The band playing during our Saturday night dinner was fabulous," the diner told Insider. "They performed at a volume that entertained us but never made us feel like our meal was being interrupted."
The cocktail menu is a love letter to Kansas City and its football heroes. Priced between $18 and $25, drinks are named after the co-founders and their partners: "Showtime" for Mahomes, "Big Yeti" for Kelce, "Queen B" for Brittany Mahomes, and "The Alchemy"—a nod to Taylor Swift’s recent album. There’s even a martini cart for custom creations, plus a lineup of mocktails, local beers, and over 100 wines. Presentation is part of the spectacle. The Swift-inspired "Alchemy" arrives with its base set aflame, sending up sparks and delight. Meanwhile, the "Big Yeti" comes in a smoked decanter, poured over a branded ice cube and finished with an orange peel. "The cocktail itself was smooth, fruity, and light," the diner recounted, while the old-fashioned twist was "sweeter than a typical old-fashioned, but still delicious."
The menu is approachable but upscale, with appetizers ranging from $16 to $40 and entrees that include both steakhouse classics and seafood. For starters, the group ordered togarashi fried chicken ($25) and jumbo lump crab cakes ($36)—the latter described as "85% crabmeat" and paired with tartar sauce and blistered-tomato relish. The chicken, served with three honey sauces (truffle, hot, and wasabi), was a hit.
Entrées showcased both surf and turf. Twin lobster tails ($76) and diver scallops ($48) wowed the seafood lovers, while the 6-ounce Japanese A5 wagyu strip ($125) was given the flambé treatment tableside—an extra $27 for a showy drizzle of brandy, bone-marrow butter, and herbs. Sides, meant for sharing, included truffle fries and honey-glazed carrots ($16 each), and a twice-baked potato ($24). The verdict? "Each entrée was incredible. The steak and scallops melted in our mouths like butter, and the lobster had a unique smoky char to it."
For dessert, the group split two cast-iron chocolate-chip cookies with vanilla ice cream ($16 each). Served warm in miniature skillets, the cookies were gooey and rich, with the ice cream providing the perfect cool finish. "It was the perfect finish to a great meal," the diner said.
But 1587 Prime isn’t just about high-end food and drink. The restaurant leans into its Chiefs and Kansas City roots at every turn. Mahomes’ signature drink includes Coors Light syrup (a nod to his endorsement deals), and diners can order a Mahomes ketchup flight for their steak. The menu features local favorites, from McLain’s Bakery desserts to beers from Boulevard Brewing Co., and even Garage Beer—the Ohio-based brewery Kelce and his brother Jason have invested in. There’s a mirror selfie spot with perfect lighting, and every detail, from themed napkins to the Victory Formation dessert menu, feels thoughtfully curated.
All this comes at a price: the group’s meal, which included six cocktails, two appetizers, four entrées, three sides, and two desserts (plus extras like flambé and bleu-cheese butter), totaled just under $800 before tip. Still, they managed to save $50 with an online offer, bringing one couple’s share to about $427. "Would I order this much on a normal night out? No. Would I go here on an average weekday? Also, no—but, let’s be honest, if I could afford to … yes," the diner admitted. "I’m so happy we went, and I’d absolutely recommend this spot to others looking for a meal that combines delicious food with a memorable experience."
The star power at 1587 Prime isn’t limited to the menu. On October 19, the night after the Chiefs’ 31-0 rout of the Las Vegas Raiders, Taylor Swift joined Travis Kelce, his teammates, and Chiefs staff for a post-game celebration at the steakhouse. According to E! News, a photo shared on Instagram showed Swift and Kelce at a table with Chiefs’ staff, with Swift wearing Chiefs-red and gold jewelry and Kelce in a sleek blue polo. Earlier that day, Swift had cheered on the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium with her father, Scott Swift, who sported a hat from Kelce’s American Eagle line.
Swift’s relationship with Kelce has been a public affair since their engagement announcement in August 2025. She’s been a regular presence at Chiefs games, and the couple’s engagement story has charmed fans. On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Swift described how Kelce orchestrated a proposal at their Kansas City home after taping his podcast, New Heights. "There were black out drapes on every single window of the whole house. I was like, ‘He is so serious about this and I really appreciate that,’" she recalled. The proposal, she said, was "the best possible case scenario."
As for their wedding, plans remain in flux. Swift, a self-professed fan of numerology, hinted on Kelce’s podcast that the date may hinge on Kelce’s NFL future. If he continues playing, the wedding will likely take place in the off-season between February and July 2026; if he retires after the 2025 season, October—a favorite month for Swift—could be the time. Swift admitted in an October interview that she hasn’t planned a bachelorette party yet, and the guest list is expected to include family, close friends, and, of course, Chiefs teammates.
1587 Prime, with its blend of sports celebrity, Kansas City pride, and high-end dining, has quickly become more than just a restaurant—it’s a destination where fans, foodies, and even pop royalty come together to savor the moment. For those lucky enough to get a seat, it’s a night to remember.
