PlayStation fans, get your wallets ready—Sony’s highly anticipated Days of Play 2026 sale has officially kicked off, and it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest events in the gaming calendar this year. The annual celebration, which runs from May 27 to June 10, is delivering a slew of discounts on games, hardware, and accessories, as well as exclusive sweepstakes and special events for PlayStation 5 players. With deals live at major retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and PlayStation Direct, there’s no shortage of opportunities for gamers to snag their favorite titles and gear at reduced prices.
According to 9to5Toys, Sony announced the Days of Play 2026 sale on May 27, with deals going live the following day. The event features hundreds of digital game deals on the PlayStation Store, as well as significant price drops on physical PS5 games at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and other outlets. Hardware isn’t left out either—standout offers include $100 off the PlayStation VR2, $50 off Pulse Explore wireless earbuds, $40 off the Pulse Elite wireless headset, $30 off the DualSense Edge wireless controller, $30 off the Access controller, and up to $20 off DualSense wireless controllers. Limited edition controllers, including the Marathon and Death Stranding themed gamepads, are also part of the sale, with some dropping to as low as $54 for the standard models and $59-64 for special editions.
As IGN’s Robert Anderson points out, “DualSense controller deals are arguably one of the stronger parts of this year’s Days of Play sale, with pricing matching the Black Friday lows seen late last year.” Even the newly introduced ‘hyperpop’ colorways—Rhythm Blue, Techno Red, and Remix Green—are already discounted, which is a rare move from Sony so soon after their debut.
But if you were hoping for a price break on the PS5 console itself, you might be a bit disappointed. Despite the excitement, there are no meaningful discounts on the standard PS5 or the PS5 Pro during this sale. Over the past year, Sony has increased hardware prices, making the flagship console as expensive as ever. However, there’s a silver lining for those looking to upgrade: certified refurbished PS5 consoles remain available through PlayStation Direct outside of the sale period, and Sony is offering an extra $50 voucher toward a PS5 or PS5 Pro purchase when you trade in a PS4 console. As IGN notes, “For context, Sony says a PS4 Pro in good condition can fetch around $100 in trade-in value before the bonus, bringing the total closer to $150 with the voucher included.”
For those considering other ways to save, Sony is also promoting its PlayStation Visa credit card. New applicants can earn a $100 statement credit after spending $500 within 60 days of account opening, and the card comes with 5x rewards on PlayStation purchases and 3x points on internet, cable, and streaming services. While the card may not be the perfect fit for everyone, it’s another way to offset the rising costs of gaming hardware and software.
The game deals are, as always, a major highlight. Physical and digital discounts abound, with prices slashed on some of the platform’s biggest titles. According to 9to5Toys and IGN, notable deals include:
- Ghost of Yotei for $49.99 (regularly $70)
- Death Stranding 2: On The Beach for $40 (regularly $70)
- Turok Trilogy Bundle for $20 (regularly $30)
- Helldivers 2 for $30 (regularly $40)
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for $30 (regularly $70)
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered for $30 (regularly $50)
- Rise of the Ronin for $30 (regularly $70)
- LEGO Horizon Adventures for $20 (regularly $40)
- Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for $20 (regularly $50)
- Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut for $30
Digital shoppers aren’t left out either. Resident Evil Requiem is available for $55.99, while Battlefield 6 has dropped to $38.49. And, as IGN notes, the digital edition of Ghost of Yotei is even a bit cheaper than its physical counterpart, coming in at $49.69—“a whole 30 cents less than the physical edition, for anyone committed to squeezing every possible dollar out of a deal.”
In addition to the deals, PlayStation is spicing things up with special in-game events and sweepstakes. According to Collider, players who participate in select events for titles like Madden NFL 26, NBA 2K26, Tekken 8, EA Sports UFC 5, EA Sports College Football 26, Gran Turismo 7, Asphalt 9: Legends, Mortal Kombat 1, Astro Bot, and Fortnite can enter a sweepstakes with prizes ranging from PlayStation controllers to $100 in PlayStation Store credit, and even a full year of PlayStation Plus for free. The sweepstakes run until June 10 at 11:59 PM local time, so there’s still plenty of time to jump in and try your luck.
For PlayStation Plus members, Days of Play brings additional perks. New subscribers can save up to 33% on a 12-month Premium membership, 25% on Extra, and 20% on Essential tiers if they sign up before June 10. June’s free monthly PlayStation Plus titles have also been revealed: Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be available from June 2 to July 6, 2026. Additionally, the Destiny 2: Legacy Collection will be added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, following news from Bungie that ongoing updates and support for the game are winding down.
Beyond the deals and digital festivities, PlayStation is making waves in the world of film and television. As Collider reports, several high-profile adaptations are in the pipeline: a God of War series for Prime Video starring Ryan Hurst as Kratos and Callum Vinson as Atreus, a Helldivers movie with Jason Momoa, and the much-anticipated third season of HBO’s acclaimed adaptation of The Last of Us. These projects underscore PlayStation’s ambition to expand its iconic franchises beyond gaming and into broader pop culture.
Some gamers, however, have mixed feelings about this year’s Days of Play. While the discounts on games and accessories are welcome, the lack of significant console price cuts and recent hardware price hikes have left a few fans grumbling. As IGN observed, “After a string of brutal price hikes across PlayStation hardware over the past year, Sony’s flagship console remains stubbornly expensive, with no direct price relief on either the standard PS5 or PS5 Pro during this sale.” Still, for those already invested in the PlayStation ecosystem, the event offers a rare chance to upgrade controllers, snag top games, and maybe even win something extra through the sweepstakes and events.
All told, Days of Play 2026 is delivering an impressive array of deals and exclusive perks, even if it isn’t quite the console discount bonanza some had hoped for. With the sale running through June 10 and a host of digital and physical bargains up for grabs, PlayStation fans have plenty of reasons to celebrate—and maybe even treat themselves to that game or accessory they’ve been eyeing all year.
