Snoop Dogg’s Family Mourns Loss Of Infant Daughter

Cori Broadus and Wayne Duece honor their late daughter Codi Dreaux with a heartfelt memorial as family and friends rally around them in the wake of her sudden passing.

On a chilly Saturday in early February, the world caught a glimpse of the heartbreak that has befallen Snoop Dogg’s family. Cori Broadus, the rapper’s 26-year-old daughter, and her fiancé Wayne Duece laid their infant daughter, Codi Dreaux, to rest after her sudden and tragic passing. The couple, who have been together since 2018, welcomed their baby girl in February 2025, but the joy of her arrival was quickly tempered by a harrowing medical journey and, ultimately, a devastating loss that resonated far beyond their immediate family.

The funeral service for Codi, held on February 7, 2026, was a poignant affair. According to Us Weekly, Cori and Duece arrived at the cemetery in a special pink car with the words “The princess has arrived in heaven” inscribed in gold on the hood—a detail the grieving parents shared on their Instagram Stories. Both wore matching brown suits, accented with touches of pink in honor of their late daughter, underscoring the thoughtfulness and love that characterized every aspect of the memorial.

Wayne Duece, 33, posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, writing, “We love you forever, baby girl.” In another slide, he added, “Fly high, Codi Dreaux. We love you, babygirl.” The ceremony concluded with the release of doves, a symbol of peace and farewell that brought a bittersweet close to the day. Friends and family in attendance, as well as those following online, were moved by the strength the couple displayed as they navigated this unimaginable sorrow.

Codi’s brief life was marked by both struggle and resilience. Born prematurely in February 2025, she spent six long months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). During this time, Cori often shared updates and reflections about her daughter’s fighting spirit. In a September 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Cori described her daughter as “so feisty. That’s a feisty girl. She’s so resilient and strong.” She continued, “She just has so much character. The doctors and nurses always tell me, ‘Your baby got her mind. She’s smart. She’s alert. She knows what’s going on. She can hear. She can see. Yeah, the circumstances are not what you thought they would be, but it could be worse.’ That girl is just a sweet little firecracker.”

The NICU experience, as Cori recounted, was both isolating and transformative. “The NICU is a different type of experience, just like you gotta know to know, and it’s not an easy place to be but the support is amazing,” she said. She shared how the emotional toll sometimes left her in tears, but the staff reassured her: “Sometimes I go in [the NICU] and I can’t stop crying, and I apologize. They’re like, ‘What are you [apologizing] for? This is normal. If you wasn’t crying, we would be worried. We’d be concerned, so just try to just stay close and just keep hope alive.’”

After half a year of fighting, Codi was finally discharged from the NICU on January 6, 2026. The family’s hope soared as they brought their baby home, believing the worst was behind them. But just 20 days later, tragedy struck. On January 31, Cori shared the heartbreaking news via Instagram: “Monday, I lost the love of my life. My Codi,” she wrote. “20 days later? Dawg, I’m sick.” The pain in her words was echoed by Duece, who wrote, “I been [sic] the saddest since u left me, Codi Dreaux. But, I know [you are] at peace. Daddy will always love you. My baby. #LongLiveCodiDreaux.”

The couple’s grief was met with an outpouring of support from family, friends, and fans alike. Snoop Dogg, Cori’s father, and her siblings joined in mourning, sharing condolences and messages of love on social media. Cordell Broadus, Cori’s brother, reached out with a promise of continued support: “Lil sis, we got you forever.” The family’s unity in the face of loss was evident, providing a measure of comfort in the darkest of times.

Those who cared for Codi during her brief life also felt the loss deeply. Her baby nurse posted a moving tribute on social media, recalling, “My BerriBo, my Codi Bear. You came in my dreams to let me know you’re OK. I love you, babygirl. I’ve been sad for six days straight. Being a nurse has its ups and downs, and this is the biggest down I ever experienced. It was such a pleasure being my babygirl’s nurse. I gave her one last bath, told her I loved her and didn’t even know I was getting her ready for Heaven.”

The story of Codi Dreaux’s life and passing has resonated with many, not only because of her famous lineage but because it highlights the often unspoken struggles families face when dealing with premature birth and extended NICU stays. The emotional rollercoaster of hope, fear, and—sometimes—loss, is a reality for countless parents. Broadus’s openness about her journey has helped shine a light on the resilience required to navigate such challenges, as well as the importance of community and support during times of crisis.

Social media became a space for shared mourning and remembrance. The couple’s posts, along with those from friends, family, and the medical team, created a tapestry of love and grief that extended far beyond their immediate circle. Fans and well-wishers commended Cori and Wayne for their courage and vulnerability, offering words of encouragement and solidarity. As one attendee wrote, “We love you forever, baby girl.”

In the midst of sorrow, the family found ways to honor Codi’s memory. The pink car, the dove release, and the matching brown suits with pink accents all spoke to the care and intention with which they approached both her life and her farewell. These gestures, shared publicly, allowed others to participate in the grieving process and to celebrate the brief but impactful life of a little girl who, by all accounts, was a “sweet little firecracker.”

As the days move forward, the Broadus and Duece families continue to lean on each other, drawing strength from their bonds and the memories of their beloved Codi. The loss remains profound, but the love and support surrounding them offer a glimmer of hope amid the heartache. In sharing their journey so openly, they have not only honored their daughter but also provided comfort and connection to others walking similar paths.

The world may have only known Codi Dreaux for a short time, but her story has left an indelible mark—one of resilience, love, and the enduring power of family.
