Naomi Osaka Sells Tarzana Mansion Back To Lacheys

The tennis star offloads her upgraded California estate to Nick and Vanessa Lachey, who return after a whirlwind move from Hawaii and Encino.

In a real estate saga that has unfolded across both coasts and even across the Pacific, tennis sensation Naomi Osaka has sold her Tarzana, California estate back to its previous owners—reality TV hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey—for just under $8 million. The deal, finalized in mid-August 2025, marks the latest twist in a property’s journey that has seen more than its share of celebrity comings and goings, upgrades, and emotional homecomings.

According to The Robb Report and Wall Street Journal, Osaka originally purchased the Tarzana home off-market from the Lacheys in February 2022 for $6.2 million (some outlets reported $6.3 million), following the couple’s move to Honolulu, Hawaii. The Lacheys, best known as co-hosts of Netflix’s hit dating series Love Is Blind, had themselves acquired the property in late 2020 from former NFL wide receiver Randall Cobb for just over $5 million. Less than two years later, they parted ways with it, selling to Osaka as Vanessa’s acting career took the family to the islands.

But paradise, it turned out, wasn’t forever. Vanessa’s starring role on CBS’s NCIS: Hawaii brought the family to Oahu in 2021, where they purchased a home near Kahala Beach for $8.8 million. Nick Lachey, reflecting on the big move in a 2021 interview with ET, said, “Hawaii is Hawaii, you can't complain about it. It's a total life adjustment, so I think for the whole family, it took some time to get into that new school, new living situation. But, yeah, we're loving it.” He added, “It's a great place to be and most importantly, [Vanessa is] at home on her show doing what she loves to do. We're all loving it, and it's good for the entire family. Hopefully we'll be there for the next 15 years.”

That hope was dashed when NCIS: Hawaii was canceled in 2024. The Lacheys soon announced their return to California, purchasing a modern six-bedroom farmhouse in Encino for $6.8 million in August 2024. Yet, in a move that left some fans scratching their heads, they listed the Encino home less than a year later for $7.4 million (or, as The Robb Report notes, $7.5 million), signaling that their hearts—and perhaps their roots—remained firmly planted in Tarzana.

Osaka, meanwhile, had not simply been a caretaker of the Tarzana estate. During her three-year tenure, she invested in significant upgrades, including the addition of a separate structure housing a gym and a state-of-the-art recovery center. The recovery space now boasts a sauna, cold plunge, steam room, massage table, and even neon motivational signage—a nod to Osaka’s elite athlete status and her penchant for wellness. She also modernized much of the home’s interior, swapping out classic furnishings for a sleeker, more contemporary vibe.

The property itself, set behind double gates on a quiet cul-de-sac and spanning more than half an acre, is a 2014-built East Coast traditional-style residence. At approximately 7,000 square feet across two levels, it features five bedrooms and nine bathrooms—ample space for the Lacheys and their three children: Camden, Phoenix, and Brooklyn. There’s a four-car garage and a motor court that can accommodate up to 20 vehicles, making it ideal for hosting friends, family, or the occasional Netflix afterparty.

Inside, the home offers a blend of luxurious and practical touches. Dark hardwood floors stretch across the main living spaces, while expansive glass windows frame sweeping valley and mountain views. The kitchen is a chef’s dream, with dual islands, high-end stainless-steel appliances, and a cozy breakfast nook. A coffered-ceiling family room, complete with a fireplace and custom built-ins, opens onto a covered loggia through pocketing doors—perfect for Southern California’s indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Formal dining areas feature wainscoting and patterned wall treatments, adding an air of sophistication to family gatherings or dinner parties.

Upstairs, the primary suite is a true retreat, offering its own fireplace, a private balcony overlooking the grounds, two walk-in closets, and a spa-style bath. Additional amenities include a media lounge and a game room with a wet bar, ensuring there’s no shortage of entertainment options for both adults and kids.

The backyard is designed for recreation and relaxation. There’s a swimming pool, hot tub, and a sunken sports court—though, curiously, no tennis facility, a surprising omission for a home owned by a Grand Slam champion. Other features include a barbecue station, fire pit, and lush landscaping, making the space equally suited for quiet family evenings or lively gatherings.

Representing Osaka in the transaction was Amy Snider of Compass, while the Lacheys were represented by The Agency’s Mauricio Umansky and Craig Knizek, according to The Robb Report. The sale was handled privately, never officially hitting the open market, and ultimately closed for $7.9 million—about $1.7 million more than Osaka paid in 2022, and $3 million more than the Lacheys’ original purchase price in 2020.

For the Lacheys, the timing of their return couldn’t have been better. They managed to move back into their beloved Tarzana home just in time for the start of the school year, offering their children a sense of stability after a whirlwind three years that included cross-country and cross-ocean relocations. The family’s journey has been marked by both professional triumphs and setbacks, but through it all, they’ve maintained a sense of gratitude and optimism. Vanessa, in a heartfelt Instagram post as the family left Hawaii, wrote, “Home is where the heart is… Hawai'i, you will always have my heart! Mahalo Nui Loa for 3 beautiful, magical years you gave me and my family! Now, on to the next adventure. Off into the sunset we go!”

The Lacheys’ real estate moves have been closely watched, not only because of their celebrity status but also due to the impressive numbers involved. Their Encino farmhouse, which they purchased in 2024, remains on the market, and their former Hawaii property—bought for $8.8 million and sold in the summer of 2024 for nearly $9.5 million—reflects a pattern of savvy buying and selling. Yet, their willingness to pay a premium to return to Tarzana suggests that, for some, the value of home goes far beyond the bottom line.

As for Naomi Osaka, her next move remains a mystery. Whether she’ll seek out a new property in the Los Angeles area—perhaps one with a tennis court this time—or look further afield is anyone’s guess. What’s certain is that the Tarzana estate, now back in the hands of the Lacheys, will once again serve as the backdrop for family memories, Netflix projects, and, no doubt, a few more real estate headlines down the road.
