Manchester United And Arsenal Target Major Transfers As Summer Window Heats Up

Big Premier League clubs pursue high-profile signings, with Manchester United, Arsenal, and PSG all negotiating for key targets while Bayern and Atlético Madrid reject massive bids.

The summer transfer window is buzzing with anticipation and speculation, as some of Europe’s biggest clubs set their sights on marquee signings and crucial reinforcements. With the Premier League, LaLiga, and Bundesliga all in the thick of squad reshaping, the rumor mill is working overtime. Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain headline the latest whirlwind of transfer activity, each club eyeing moves that could reshape the balance of power for the 2026-27 season.

Manchester United, fresh off securing Champions League football for the coming campaign, are expected to be major players in the market. Their search for reinforcements spans several positions, but midfield and goalkeeping appear to be top priorities. According to The Athletic, United are considering a deal for Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who is set to become a free agent next month. Leeds, however, are eager to tie down the Wales international to a new contract, hoping to stave off interest from Old Trafford. Darlow is seen as an experienced backup option behind United’s new number one, Senne Lammens, especially with Altay Bayindir expected to depart. Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Sam Johnstone is also under consideration, providing further depth to United’s goalkeeping shortlist.

But United’s ambitions don’t stop between the posts. With the exit of Casemiro, the midfield is undergoing a major overhaul. Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson has emerged as a prominent target, though Manchester City have already tested Forest’s resolve with a hefty £106 million bid plus £15 million in add-ons—an offer that was ultimately rejected. United, meanwhile, have agreed terms with Atalanta for Ederson, with an initial £35 million fee and £3.8 million in add-ons nearly finalized. Yet, the uncertainty surrounding Anderson’s future has prompted United to explore alternatives.

Former United striker Louis Saha weighed in on the club’s midfield conundrum, telling Compare.bet, "Man Utd need a balanced midfield. You already have Kobbie Mainoo, who is a top player and seems to grow with confidence, but I still think we need something a bit more experienced, a bit more aggressive, and with a bit more 'legs' that could represent that dominance in midfield. It's extremely important." Saha went on to add, "Federico Valverde would be everything the club needs. For any team to challenge for the Premier League title, you need a top level centre midfielder. They need to be aggressive and show leadership at the same time to really dominate in that midfield. That experience can't be replaced by youth and talent. That has been represented by Casemiro. He's not maybe the perfect player, but in this position, he's one of the best. And definitely, if United want to compete, they need that."

Valverde, currently at Real Madrid, is just one of several high-profile midfielders linked with a move. Meanwhile, Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to place Eduardo Camavinga on the transfer list, with the Spanish giants willing to listen to offers between €50 million (£43 million) and €80 million (£69 million). Camavinga, who missed out on France’s World Cup squad, is said to be determined to stay and fight for his place, but Mourinho’s preference for more technical midfielders could open the door to a Premier League switch. Both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have expressed interest in the 23-year-old, who made 29 LaLiga appearances in 2025-26.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Arsenal are making headlines with their pursuit of Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez. After Real Madrid’s €150 million bid and Barcelona’s sub-€100 million offer were both rejected, Arsenal now find themselves in pole position. According to AS, the Gunners are the only club left in the running with the financial muscle to pull off what would be a near world-record transfer. Atlético, for their part, have made it clear they expect a massive fee for their prized striker. Arsenal are also monitoring Newcastle right back Tino Livramento, though a world-record fee for a right back—currently €68 million—would be required to tempt Newcastle into a sale. Manchester City are also interested in Livramento, as well as a potential return for Tottenham’s Pedro Porro, who has two years remaining on his contract.

Bournemouth’s Alex Scott is another name attracting attention, with the Cherries valuing the 22-year-old midfielder at £80 million. Liverpool and Manchester United are monitoring Scott’s situation, but Bournemouth have offered him a new contract that could include a release clause, aiming to keep their young star at the Vitality Stadium. Meanwhile, Newcastle United have completed the signing of 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Reims for a reported €28.5 million, bolstering their squad ahead of a busy campaign.

On the continent, Paris Saint-Germain are plotting a bold move for Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise. The French international dazzled with 22 goals and 31 assists last season and is now a key figure for France heading into the World Cup. However, Bayern remain adamant that Olise is not for sale, with the winger under contract until 2029. PSG’s pursuit of Olise is emblematic of their ambition, but they may need to look elsewhere if Bayern hold firm. PSG are also keeping tabs on other attacking options, while Manchester United have reportedly added Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangaré to their shortlist. Sangaré enjoyed an outstanding season in Ligue 1 and carries a market value of €40 million.

The women’s game is also seeing major moves, with London City Lionesses leading the chase for two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas after her decision to leave Barcelona. Negotiations are ongoing, with the Lionesses hoping to land a transformative signing for their squad.

Other notable developments include Hertha Berlin’s 16-year-old prodigy Kennet Eichhorn rejecting Liverpool to join Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus standing firm on Kenan Yildiz despite interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, and Bayern Munich progressing in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt for left back Nathaniel Brown, with a medical planned in North America. Aston Villa are open to selling goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as Juventus circle, and Hull City are considering a move for Callum Wilson, who is set to leave relegated West Ham. Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna could be on the move as Fulham look for a new boss, with an £8 million release clause in play.

As the transfer window heats up, clubs across Europe are making their moves, weighing up blockbuster bids and strategic signings. With so many deals still in the balance and negotiations ongoing, fans can expect plenty more twists and turns before the window slams shut. For now, the stage is set for a summer of high drama and headline-grabbing transfers.
