Kim Zolciak’s Teen Son Arrested In Georgia Assault Case

The 15-year-old son of the former Real Housewives star faces serious charges after a classmate accused him of sexual assault at an Atlanta-area gym, as both families brace for a high-profile court battle.

Reality television has rarely shied away from controversy, but the latest headlines involving former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak’s family have sent shockwaves beyond the confines of Bravo fandom. On Monday, August 17, 2026, Kim Zolciak’s 15-year-old son, Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., was arrested by Alpharetta police in Georgia on charges of aggravated sodomy and aggravated sexual battery, following allegations of a serious incident involving a female classmate at a local fitness center. The arrest, confirmed by multiple sources including Page Six, Us Weekly, and Parade, marks a dramatic and deeply troubling chapter for the once high-profile reality TV family.

According to court documents obtained by Page Six and corroborated by other outlets, the alleged assault occurred on April 23, 2026, at Life Time Fitness in Alpharetta, a suburb of Atlanta. The female victim, also 15, told investigators that she was with KJ in the gym when he began flirting and joking with her. The court papers state that KJ allegedly led her into a changing area near a family locker room, saying, “hey look at this.” Once inside, the girl claims KJ began to kiss and grope her, despite her repeated refusals. She further alleged that he forced oral sex and digitally penetrated her, and tried multiple times to pull down her pants to have sexual intercourse, all while she continued to say “no.”

“She finally managed to get away from him, and he pulled up his pants and left,” the court filing states, as quoted by Page Six. The alleged encounter reportedly took place in a co-ed sauna area, a detail that adds to the complexity and sensitivity of the case. Surveillance footage from the gym confirmed that KJ was present at the facility on the day in question, though he had not scanned his membership card upon entering, according to the documents reviewed by Us Weekly and Page Six.

The victim did not immediately report the assault. Instead, she returned to school the following day, where she encountered KJ’s girlfriend. According to the court documents, she then left school and went to a Starbucks, where she experienced a panic attack and contacted her family. She was subsequently taken to North Fulton Hospital on April 24 for a sexual assault examination. The medical report, cited by all major outlets covering the case, found no evidence of male DNA in her mouth or vagina at that time.

The police investigation began in mid-May, with authorities first attempting to contact KJ’s father, retired NFL player Kroy Biermann, on May 14. Four days later, they spoke with him directly regarding the allegations. The timing of the investigation, which spanned several months before the arrest, has raised questions about the process and the handling of the case by both law enforcement and the families involved.

KJ was taken into custody on August 17, 2026, and is currently being held without bond at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center. Reports differ on the date of his next hearing—Us Weekly lists September 8, while Page Six and others cite September 1 as the scheduled court date. As of publication, neither parent had issued a direct public statement addressing the specifics of the arrest, though Kim Zolciak and KJ’s attorney have both released statements denying the allegations in the strongest terms.

In a statement provided to Page Six and TMZ, Kim Zolciak said, “The allegations being made against my son are nothing short of reckless and deeply troubling. He categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged.” She further stated, “My son voluntarily took a polygraph examination regarding these allegations and passed. Additionally, an examination was conducted, and no DNA belonging to my son was found. We are also aware that this individual has made similar allegations involving two other people, which raises serious concerns that deserve to be carefully examined.”

KJ’s attorney, Jason Sheffield, echoed these denials in his own statement to Page Six: “He is not only presumed innocent, but is, in fact, innocent. I will work tirelessly to demonstrate to the District Attorney’s office the mean spirited nature of these false allegations and to bring a close to this matter as quickly as possible.” Sheffield also noted that KJ had passed a polygraph administered by a respected sex offender polygrapher and claimed to have evidence of other prior false allegations by the accuser.

While the family has been thrust into the public eye by virtue of their reality TV fame, the legal proceedings are expected to play out in the juvenile court system, which typically offers greater privacy protections for minors. Still, the case has ignited fierce debate online and in the media, with many calling for due process and cautioning against public rushes to judgment. Zolciak herself addressed this in her statement, saying, “Every legitimate allegation deserves to be taken seriously and investigated based on the facts and evidence. At the same time, no one should be publicly condemned based solely on an accusation. We remain confident that the facts and evidence will establish the truth, and we ask that people allow the proper process to take its course rather than spreading unproven allegations.”

The arrest comes at a turbulent time for the Biermann family. Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann, who married in 2011 and have four biological children together (as well as two daughters from Zolciak’s previous relationship whom Biermann adopted), have been embroiled in a contentious divorce since 2023. Earlier this year, a judge reportedly granted Kroy primary physical custody of their four youngest children. Kim has publicly rejected any accusations that she is an unfit parent, calling such claims “completely false” and “a deliberate attempt by Kroy to defame my character,” according to Page Six.

The family’s notoriety stems in large part from their years on reality television, first through Kim’s run as an original cast member on Real Housewives of Atlanta, and later on the spin-off Don’t Be Tardy. KJ himself was born during the early years of their TV fame and grew up in front of the cameras, making the current situation all the more public and fraught with media scrutiny.

As the legal process unfolds, both the alleged victim and the accused are entitled to privacy and due process. The case serves as a stark reminder of the complexities and challenges that arise when high-profile families face serious legal allegations, especially those involving minors. For now, the Biermann family—and the public—await the next steps in a case that has already captivated and unsettled many.
