Katie Price Defends Whirlwind Marriage Amid Scandal

Allegations of financial impropriety and doubts over Lee Andrews’ background cast a shadow over Katie Price’s recent Dubai wedding, as the star insists she is standing by her new husband.

Katie Price, the ever-controversial British media personality, has once again captured headlines with her whirlwind romance and hasty marriage to Dubai-based businessman Lee Andrews. But behind the glitz of their rapid-fire nuptials, a storm of allegations, doubts, and public scrutiny has engulfed the couple, raising questions about trust, authenticity, and the true nature of their relationship.

It was only in early March 2026—contrary to earlier reports suggesting a January wedding—that Price, 47, officially tied the knot with Andrews. The pair’s romance unfolded at breakneck speed: they met in person for the first time just days before marrying in a lavish ceremony in Dubai’s One&Only Royal Mirage hotel. According to Price, the decision to wed so quickly was driven by instinct. “It just felt right, so why not get married?” she told Susanna Reid and Ed Balls in a candid March 16 appearance on Good Morning Britain (as reported by The Mirror and Manchester Evening News).

Yet, the fairytale was quickly complicated by revelations and accusations that have threatened to overshadow the couple’s happiness. Just a week before proposing to Price, Lee Andrews reportedly sent a series of desperate voice notes to a US-based businesswoman, begging for cash in amounts ranging from £1,100 to £2,500. In these messages, heard by The Sun and cited by The Daily Mail, Andrews pleaded, “If you can help me or send Western Union 3000 that would help me so much. I could just do with a big hug really. You don’t know how desperate it’s been, the last couple of months of me trying to survive.” He claimed to be living off 20 pence ready meals, waiting for payments from his business, Aura Sustainable Vehicles & Energy BVI, to clear from Kenya.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Daily Mail that Andrews became increasingly insistent and even swore at her when she refused to send money. She described him as “so persuasive” and said she nearly complied, but ultimately decided against it. She also noted that Andrews had mentioned meeting someone special back in December, who she now believes was Price.

These are not isolated allegations. Lee’s former partner, Alana Percival, 32, claimed that at least four other women had come forward to her in the weeks following her own revelations, each alleging that Andrews had tried to “scam” them out of money. Percival, in a post seen by The Sun, branded Andrews “another Tinder Swindler,” referencing the notorious Netflix documentary about a global relationship fraudster. She wrote, “Self claimed multimillionaire or billionaire my f*ing ae. Begging women around the world for £3000 this was only in January!”

Despite these accusations, Price has stood firmly by her new husband. On Good Morning Britain, she addressed the swirling rumors and skepticism about Andrews’ background and finances. “Because it’s me, and the way I do things, I did want to keep it private because he’s not a famous person but he’s getting so much flak from speculation, conman, scam man, Jesus! I’ve seen what I want to see, people shouldn’t underestimate me, I just want people to be happy for me,” she insisted, as reported by The Mirror and Manchester Evening News.

Price also tackled the controversy over Andrews’ academic credentials. It had been claimed he possessed a PhD from Cambridge University, but she clarified, “He hasn’t got a PhD from Cambridge. It’s one in Spain. That’s for him to say why he’s got a PhD but it’s not from Cambridge, I don’t know where that came from, he’s not got a PhD in Cambridge at all.” She added, “On his, oh my God, is it a diplomatic passport, it’s Dr Lee Andrews. On his normal one, it’s Wesley Lee Andrews.”

For Price, the rapid pace of the relationship is part of her personal approach to love. She told interviewers that she would not introduce Andrews to her five children until she felt she truly knew him herself. “He lives in Dubai. When I’ve got the kids, I’ve got the kids, I can do my work. He hasn’t met the family, hasn’t met the kids, but they’ve been on FaceTime. They’ve all met him on FaceTime. But it’s never enough. I won’t be introducing him to the kids yet because I want to get to know him myself.”

Public reaction to the marriage has been predictably mixed. Fans were stunned by the announcement, especially given Price’s split from reality star JJ Slater, 32, just days prior. Even her family was reportedly unaware of her new relationship until after the vows had been exchanged. The couple’s wedding, held in the lush gardens of the One&Only Royal Mirage, was followed by a honeymoon period marred by reports that Andrews had yet to settle the hotel bill, despite promises to do so. As of mid-March, the outstanding balance remained, according to The Daily Mail.

Andrews himself has denied all previous claims of impropriety or financial misrepresentation. However, the cloud of suspicion continues to hang over him, fueled by the testimony of multiple women and the emergence of voice notes that appear to contradict his self-professed status as a “millionaire businessman.”

Price, for her part, has tried to maintain a sense of normalcy amid the chaos. She has openly discussed her recent health issues, including significant weight loss, which she attributes to iron deficiency and pre-menopause rather than any medication. “I have lost weight, I look too skinny, I look gaunt, so I’ve been to the doctors. I’ve done all the blood tests and the poo one. Everyone says I’m on Ozempic, I am lacking in iron and I’m going through pre-menopause as well. I’m healthy so, no one worry about me and I hope everyone else is happy for me,” she told Good Morning Britain hosts.

Amidst the drama, Price has also defended her choice to marry so quickly, reflecting on her own history of love and heartbreak. She admitted on air that she has only truly loved three men in her life: Dane Bowers, Peter Andre, and now, Lee Andrews. “Do you ever really know anyone?” she mused, questioning the very foundations of trust and intimacy in relationships—especially those lived out in the relentless glare of the public eye.

As the dust settles on this latest chapter in the Katie Price saga, one thing is clear: the intersection of fame, fortune, and personal relationships remains as unpredictable—and as fascinating—as ever. Whether this marriage will weather the storms of rumor and reality is anyone’s guess, but for now, Price seems determined to chart her own course, critics be damned.
