In a series of chilling incidents across the globe, five separate homicides have rocked communities from Minnesota and Texas to Louisiana, Alabama, and even as far as Mumbai, India. Over a single weekend in early September 2025, families and neighborhoods were left reeling, as police and investigators scrambled to piece together the circumstances behind each tragic death. The details, though varied, paint a sobering picture of violence, loss, and the relentless work of law enforcement agencies on both sides of the world.

In Richfield, Minnesota, a quiet residential street was thrust into the spotlight when police responded to a 911 call at 5:01 a.m. on September 7, 2025. According to Bring Me The News, a man had phoned for help, claiming that his 37-year-old roommate was in dire need of medical assistance at their Bloomington Avenue South home. Officers arrived to a grim scene: the woman was found on the basement bathroom floor, suffering from a severe laceration to the top of her head. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the woman succumbed to her injuries.

Police quickly noted that the situation was far from straightforward. The basement living area showed clear signs of a struggle, and the man who had called for help was himself covered in blood and bore fresh injuries to his hands. Perhaps most tellingly, his account of what had happened did not match the evidence at the scene. As a result, he was arrested on suspicion of murder. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, and authorities have cautioned that the details could evolve as the investigation continues.

Thousands of miles away, in Mumbai, India, a dispute over property turned deadly. The Kandivli police reported that on September 5, three men—Avdhesh Chauhan, Sanjay Chauhan, and Kamlesh Chauhan—forcefully entered the home of 60-year-old Ramlakhan Yadav, claiming it was rightfully theirs. What began as a heated argument escalated quickly into violence. The trio attacked Yadav and his family with sticks, bamboo, stumps, and stones. Yadav suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivli (West), where he received treatment before being discharged.

Tragically, the ordeal was not over. The following day, Yadav developed chest pains and was brought back to the hospital at around 5:30 p.m. Despite doctors’ efforts in the ICU, he died at 7:45 p.m. The three assailants were arrested and booked on murder charges based on the complaint filed by Yadav’s family, with their custody extended until Monday, September 8.

Meanwhile, in North Richland Hills, Texas, gun violence shattered the night just after midnight on September 7. According to a news release from the North Richland Hills Police Department, a 21-year-old Dallas woman was fatally shot in the 8600 block of Airport Freeway. The chaos didn’t end there—a 23-year-old man was also wounded in the incident. Two off-duty North Richland Hills police officers were working nearby when the shots rang out; one officer returned fire at the suspects, while the other rendered life-saving aid to the injured man by applying a tourniquet. The man was transported to a hospital and is expected to recover.

Detectives later established that a confrontation had broken out among several individuals before the shooting. Three 18-year-olds were arrested in connection with the case, and what investigators believe to be the murder weapon was recovered. The identity of the woman killed has not yet been disclosed, pending notification by the medical examiner’s office.

Domestic violence also claimed a life in Shreveport, Louisiana. On the morning of September 6, officers from the Shreveport Police Department responded to a home in the 3100 block of DeSoto Street in the Ingleside neighborhood. There, they discovered 27-year-old Kalisia Franklin dead in a back room that bore unmistakable signs of a struggle. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s office pronounced her dead at 1:30 p.m. that day.

The investigation quickly focused on Franklin’s boyfriend, Jacobi Hughes, who was found at the scene and taken into custody. After questioning, Hughes was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, child endangerment, and domestic abuse battery. The case marked the 26th confirmed homicide in Shreveport proper in 2025 and the 31st in Caddo Parish overall. The police noted that the investigation is ongoing and further updates are expected.

In Auburn, Alabama, the academic community was left in shock following the brutal death of Julie Gard Schnuelle, a beloved retired professor from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Police were called to Kiesel Park in the 500 block of Chadwick Lane on September 6 after a body was discovered in the woods. Officers found Dr. Gard Schnuelle, 59, with injuries that clearly indicated she had been assaulted. The university released a heartfelt statement mourning her loss and extending condolences to her family and loved ones, describing her as “a beloved member of Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and the Auburn family.”

Adding another layer to the mystery, police reported that a red Ford F-150 pickup truck was missing from the area near the crime scene. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the vehicle or the assault to come forward, as their investigation continues. Kiesel Park was closed for the remainder of the weekend as detectives combed the area for clues.

These five cases, while distinct in their circumstances, share a tragic commonality: lives abruptly cut short and communities left to grapple with the aftermath. In Minnesota, a roommate’s call for help quickly turned into a murder investigation. In Mumbai, a property dispute spiraled into deadly violence. Texas saw a fatal shooting following an altercation, while Louisiana mourned another victim of domestic violence. And in Alabama, a respected academic’s life was taken in a public park, with the assailant still at large.

Across all these incidents, law enforcement agencies have moved swiftly to arrest suspects and reassure the public. Yet, the ripple effects of such violence extend far beyond the crime scenes—touching families, friends, colleagues, and entire neighborhoods. As investigations unfold and communities seek answers, the hope remains that justice will be served and that the stories of those lost will not be forgotten.
