In a year marked by fierce competition and shifting audience tastes, the Hindi-language action thriller Dhurandhar has emerged as a true box office juggernaut, rewriting records and capturing the imagination of moviegoers across India. Directed by Aditya Dhar and headlined by superstar Ranveer Singh, the film has not only become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time but has also set new benchmarks for consistency and audience engagement, even as the industry faces challenges not seen in decades.

According to Sacnilk, Dhurandhar collected a staggering Rs 26.25 crore net in its sixth week at the Indian box office, smashing the previous sixth-week record held by Stree 2 (Rs 18.60 crore) by more than 40%. The achievement is all the more remarkable considering the film’s sixth-week haul comes at a time when new releases typically siphon off attention and ticket sales. Yet, Dhurandhar has proven to be the rare exception, demonstrating what Sacnilk calls “unbelievable consistency.”

The numbers tell a story of their own. As of January 15, 2026, Dhurandhar has amassed approximately Rs 770 crore net in India, according to Pinkvilla. The film’s week-wise breakdown paints a picture of enduring popularity: Rs 196.50 crore in week one, Rs 241 crore in week two, Rs 162 crore in week three, Rs 100.50 crore in week four, and Rs 44.75 crore in week five. The sixth week, buoyed by the Sankranti holidays and robust weekday collections—especially on January 14 and 15—brought in another Rs 25 crore, with daily figures ranging from Rs 2.25 crore to Rs 6.25 crore.

Globally, the film’s impact is even more pronounced. Sacnilk reports that Dhurandhar has grossed approximately Rs 1,275 crore worldwide, with projections suggesting a finish near Rs 1,300 crore. This makes it the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of all time on the global stage, a feat that places it in rarefied company and underscores its broad appeal beyond linguistic and regional boundaries.

But what sets Dhurandhar apart isn’t just its raw numbers—it’s the context in which those numbers have been achieved. The film is nearing the 3.50 crore footfall mark in its Hindi version alone, a milestone not reached since Dangal. For perspective, Jawan managed the feat across all language versions, but Dhurandhar is doing it with just its Hindi release. This is particularly significant given that, as Pinkvilla notes, the overall box office environment has softened since the heyday of the 2010s. Many theaters are reporting lower collections, and only the biggest films seem able to secure prolonged runs.

Despite these headwinds, Dhurandhar has managed to not only survive but thrive, setting new weekly records for Hindi films in every week except the first. The sixth week’s collection, for instance, surpassed the previous record by nearly 50%, a testament to the film’s staying power and the loyalty of its audience. As one industry analyst put it, “At one time, toppling Dangal seemed like a possibility, but that is no longer the case. Having said that, it must be noted that the box office has gone down from the better days of the 2010s.”

The film’s journey to the top has also sparked debates about its classification as an “all-time blockbuster.” While it may fall just short of the Rs 800 crore net benchmark that some consider the gold standard, its footfalls and sustained popularity suggest it belongs in the conversation. Pinkvilla points out that the number includes a significant amount of feeding in the first week, and while the footfalls may not quite match Dangal’s, they are “probably of the same level, perhaps even better,” given the current market conditions.

Adding to the excitement is the anticipation surrounding Dhurandhar 2. The success of the first film has “increased the buzz multifold,” according to Sacnilk, with many industry watchers predicting that the sequel could be one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2026. The original’s performance has set a high bar, but the appetite for more is clearly there, both among fans and the industry at large.

Of course, no film’s journey is without its challenges. The coming weeks will test whether Dhurandhar can maintain its momentum, especially with the release of Border 2 on the horizon. Industry analysts are watching closely to see if it can achieve the coveted Rs 800 crore net mark, which would further cement its status as a historic success. As Pinkvilla notes, “The first can be done, but the latter will be a bit tough, though not impossible.”

What’s clear is that Dhurandhar has already rewritten the rules of the game. By surpassing Pushpa 2: The Rule’s Hindi net record of Rs 812 crore, it has claimed the title of the biggest Hindi net grosser of all time. Its worldwide performance has made it a global phenomenon, and its influence is likely to be felt for years to come. As Sacnilk observes, “Dhurandhar has been one of its kind phenomena, which has defied the expectations to set a new benchmark for Indian cinema.”

For Ranveer Singh, Aditya Dhar, and everyone involved in the project, the film’s success is both a validation and a challenge—a reminder of what’s possible when storytelling, star power, and timing align just right. As the industry looks ahead to future releases and sequels, Dhurandhar stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of big-screen spectacle and the unpredictable magic of the movies.
