At the heart of Vietnam’s ambitious technological drive, CT Group has emerged as a pioneer, capturing national and international attention with its groundbreaking achievements. On August 12, 2025, the company signed a monumental export order for 5,000 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to South Korea, witnessed by Vietnam’s General Secretary To Lam and South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok in Seoul. The agreement, forged with Airbility, is more than just a business transaction—it's a powerful symbol of Vietnam’s growing prowess in high-tech innovation and its aspirations to become a key player on the global stage, as reported by the official Vietnamese government news portal.
Founded in 1992, CT Group began as a real estate venture but has since transformed into one of Vietnam’s leading private technology and innovation corporations. The company’s remarkable evolution was recognized in 2022 when it received the prestigious First-Class Labor Medal, a testament to its commitment to excellence and national development. According to VnExpress, CT Group’s journey from property development to the cutting edge of science and technology reflects both its adaptability and Vietnam’s broader strategic shift toward high-tech industries.
CT Group’s current portfolio spans nine high-tech sectors: semiconductors, artificial intelligence, UAVs, green digital currency, zero-emission sorting houses, electric cars and trains, quantum computers, new energy, gene and cell technology, and digital twin technology. In addition, the company maintains a strong foothold in three sustainable traditional industries: smart urban areas; green transport, technical, economic, social infrastructure and logistics; and clean food and healthcare. This diverse approach is designed to ensure both innovation and resilience, positioning CT Group at the forefront of Vietnam’s technological renaissance.
During a working session on August 13, 2025, held at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed strong support for CT Group’s initiatives. He praised the company’s proactive investment and development programs, emphasizing their alignment with Vietnam’s core technology development strategy. "Successful enterprise means successful country," the Prime Minister declared, highlighting the symbiotic relationship between corporate achievement and national progress, as reported by VnExpress.
CT Group’s commitment to leadership in strategic technologies is evident in its robust investments and research efforts. The company has established three factories and two customer care centers in Silicon Valley, California, and Phoenix, Arizona—strategic footholds that connect Vietnamese innovation with the heart of the global technology ecosystem. Furthermore, CT Group has launched two seed training centers for semiconductor talent at the National Innovation Center (NIC) in Hoa Lac, Hanoi, and in Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City. These centers have already produced two cohorts of graduates, directly contributing to the high-quality workforce required by Vietnam’s burgeoning semiconductor industry.
Looking ahead, CT Group has set its sights on assembling, testing, and packaging 100 million semiconductor chips annually for Imagis, with production targeted to begin in 2027. The company recently started expanding its chip manufacturing facilities, underlining its ambition to become a major supplier in the region. This move is in line with Vietnam’s broader goal, as outlined in Prime Ministerial Decision No. 1017/QĐ-TTg, to develop a robust domestic semiconductor industry and reduce dependence on foreign technology.
But it’s not just about semiconductors. CT Group is a trailblazer in UAV technology, with 16 different drone models already developed. The company is leading the charge in what’s known as the Low Altitude Economy (LAE), a new frontier that encompasses everything from cargo drones to near-space applications. The recent deal with South Korea is a clear signal that Vietnamese innovation is not just keeping pace but setting trends in the global UAV market.
During the government session, CT Group’s leadership reaffirmed their commitment to strong investment, research, development, and application of strategic technologies. Their agenda includes not only UAVs and semiconductors but also comprehensive national digital transformation, high-tech infrastructure, and biotechnology. The company’s representatives stressed that their strategy is to master the world’s most advanced technologies across these sectors, ensuring that Vietnam remains competitive in the rapidly evolving global landscape.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on CT Group to maintain its pioneering spirit and to actively contribute to the fourth industrial revolution. He urged the company—and others like it—to embody the principle, "said is done, committed is implemented, done is realized with concrete products and quantified results." This mantra, he noted, is essential for turning ambitious plans into tangible outcomes that benefit the nation as a whole.
The government, for its part, is taking concrete steps to support CT Group and other innovative enterprises. A Central Steering Committee for science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation has been established, led by General Secretary To Lam. The government is also providing access to a preferential credit package worth 500,000 billion VND (approximately $20 billion USD) to fuel science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and strategic infrastructure projects. Ministries, sectors, agencies, and localities have been directed to accompany CT Group in project implementation, credit access, brand building, order placement, and encouragement of domestic production.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the government continues to revise and supplement laws, decrees, and circulars to create a more enabling environment for innovation. He encouraged CT Group to provide ongoing feedback and proposals regarding institutional mechanisms, policies, and regulations, ensuring that the legal framework keeps pace with technological advancements. If issues arise that exceed the authority of individual agencies, they are to be escalated to higher levels for resolution.
As Vietnam accelerates its journey toward high-tech leadership, CT Group’s story stands as a beacon for the nation’s aspirations. Its bold moves in semiconductors, UAVs, and digital transformation are not just corporate milestones—they are milestones for the entire country. The partnership between government and enterprise, underscored by mutual commitment and shared vision, is driving Vietnam closer to its goal of becoming a global technology powerhouse. With each new achievement, CT Group is proving that in Vietnam, innovation is not just a buzzword—it’s a promise being fulfilled, one breakthrough at a time.
