Chevron Thailand And Thai Red Cross Aid Flood Victims

The energy giant and humanitarian group join forces to deliver financial support, health programs, and emergency relief to communities in southern Thailand reeling from devastating floods.

On December 25, 2025, an inspiring collaboration unfolded in southern Thailand, as Chevron Thailand joined forces with the Thai Red Cross Society to bolster relief efforts for communities devastated by recent floods. The initiative, part of the ongoing "Chevron Humankind: Chevron Thailand Heart" project, saw the energy giant and its partners channel significant resources—both financial and human—toward immediate aid and long-term health support in the region.

According to a report by ThaiPublica, the project successfully collected 488,300 baht in donations, a sum formally handed over by Mr. Chatit Huayhongthong, Chairman of Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, to Mrs. Chanprapa Wichitchonchai, Deputy Director of the Thai Red Cross Society’s Fundraising Office. The funds are earmarked for direct assistance to flood victims, with the Red Cross serving as the central organization responsible for distributing aid and overseeing recovery and relief operations.

This financial support is just the latest in a series of contributions made by Chevron Thailand under the "Chevron Humankind" banner, a program designed to encourage employee engagement in social responsibility through charitable giving and volunteerism. Over the past 11 years, the initiative has donated more than 32 million baht to various foundations and charitable organizations across the country. This long-term commitment underscores Chevron’s broader mission of fostering community resilience and well-being, especially in times of crisis.

The latest campaign brought together 11 dedicated teams and 32 volunteers, all working in concert to support blood donation activities and related health initiatives. Their collective efforts not only raised much-needed funds but also heightened public awareness about the importance of blood donation and community health education—a vital message in the wake of natural disasters, when medical resources are often stretched thin.

Chevron Thailand’s involvement didn’t stop at financial donations. The company contributed an additional 2,500,000 baht to support blood donation and health-related programs, as well as 1,050,500 baht for various other health initiatives. These funds are expected to play a crucial role in sustaining ongoing relief activities and strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure, which has been under immense pressure due to the floods.

Beyond monetary aid, Chevron extended its support by partnering with local organizations to address immediate needs on the ground. The company provided 33,600 bottles of drinking water to two temporary shelters in Songkhla province: Songklanagarind Hospital Shelter and Songkhla Rajabhat University Shelter. This practical assistance was aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by displaced families and ensuring that basic necessities were met during the recovery period.

Chevron’s collaboration with the Thai Red Cross Society is emblematic of a broader strategy to build partnerships with a range of local stakeholders. The company has also worked with the Songkhla People’s Association, donating 2,500,000 baht under the "9 Join, Empower Songkhla People" project, as well as the Songklanagarind Hospital Foundation (1,050,500 baht) and the Thai Fisheries Association (100,000 baht). These alliances have enabled a more coordinated response to the disaster, pooling resources and expertise to maximize the impact of relief efforts.

Mrs. Chanprapa Wichitchonchai, who received the donation on behalf of the Thai Red Cross, emphasized the importance of such partnerships in times of crisis. "The Thai Red Cross Society acts as a central organization to deliver assistance and support rehabilitation and relief for those affected by the southern floods," she stated. Her remarks highlight the critical role played by organizations like the Red Cross in mobilizing aid and ensuring that it reaches those most in need.

For Chevron, the motivation behind these initiatives goes beyond corporate philanthropy. The company’s leadership has consistently framed its social responsibility programs as a core part of its identity in Thailand. "Chevron continues to support efforts to mitigate the impact of floods in the South, working closely with various agencies to provide ongoing assistance," Mr. Chatit Huayhongthong explained. This ethos is reflected in the company’s efforts to involve employees at every level, fostering a culture of volunteerism and shared purpose.

The "Chevron Humankind: Chevron Thailand Heart" project has become a model for how private sector organizations can engage meaningfully with communities in times of need. By combining financial contributions with hands-on volunteer work, Chevron has demonstrated that corporate social responsibility can be both impactful and sustainable. The project’s emphasis on blood donation and health education also addresses longer-term challenges, helping to build community resilience against future crises.

In the broader context of disaster relief in Thailand, Chevron’s approach stands out for its comprehensiveness. The company not only responds to immediate emergencies—such as providing clean water and shelter supplies—but also invests in strengthening local health systems and supporting community organizations. This dual focus ensures that aid is both timely and enduring, laying the groundwork for recovery and future preparedness.

Local authorities and community leaders have welcomed Chevron’s contributions, noting that such support is essential for bridging gaps in government resources. The collaboration with the Thai Red Cross Society, in particular, has been praised for its transparency and efficiency, ensuring that donations are used effectively and reach those most in need.

As southern Thailand continues to grapple with the aftermath of severe flooding, the need for coordinated relief efforts remains acute. The partnership between Chevron Thailand and the Thai Red Cross Society offers a powerful example of how businesses, civil society, and local communities can work together to overcome adversity. Their joint efforts have not only provided immediate relief but have also planted the seeds for longer-term recovery and resilience.

Looking ahead, the lessons learned from this collaboration could inform future disaster response strategies, both in Thailand and beyond. By prioritizing partnership, transparency, and community engagement, Chevron and its allies have shown that even in the face of daunting challenges, collective action can make a real difference. And for the families affected by the southern floods, that difference is already being felt in tangible ways—from the bottles of clean water delivered to shelters to the ongoing support for health and recovery programs.

With the floodwaters slowly receding, the focus now shifts to rebuilding and healing. Thanks to the dedication of volunteers, the generosity of donors, and the leadership of organizations like Chevron and the Thai Red Cross, hope is returning to communities that not long ago seemed overwhelmed by disaster. It’s a reminder that, even in the darkest times, acts of kindness and solidarity can light the way forward.
