Bihar Teacher Exam Results Transform Careers For Thousands

Nearly 5,000 local teachers earn state employee status as Sakshamta Pariksha 4 results are released, while thousands await the crucial STET 2025 outcome for secondary school positions.

The education sector in Bihar has witnessed a flurry of activity as the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) released the results for the fourth phase of the Sakshamta Pariksha 2025 and prepared to announce the much-anticipated Bihar Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2025 results. Both exams, pivotal for the professional future of thousands of teachers, have drawn attention for their rigorous standards, detailed eligibility criteria, and the significant impact they hold for teaching careers across the state.

On December 20, 2025, the BSEB declared the results of the Sakshamta Pariksha 4, a competency test designed for locally appointed teachers seeking state employee status. According to a report by Patna Press, BSEB chairperson Anand Kishor announced that out of 14,936 candidates who appeared for the exam, 4,932 teachers qualified, marking an overall pass percentage of 30.47%. This result is more than just a statistic—it represents a major milestone for nearly 5,000 teachers now eligible for state government employee status, a prospect that brings improved job security and benefits.

The Sakshamta Pariksha 4 examination was conducted over two windows: September 24 to 27 and October 12 to 22, 2025. The test was held in a computer-based format, with candidates facing 150 objective-type questions spanning language, general studies, and subject-specific topics. The exam lasted two and a half hours and was administered in multiple shifts to accommodate the large number of participants. Class-wise participation details reveal that the majority—13,726 candidates—were from Classes 1 to 5, while 378 appeared for Classes 6 to 8, 592 for Classes 9 to 10, and 231 for Classes 11 to 12.

Breaking down the results further, the success rates varied across teaching levels. At the middle-school level (Classes 6 to 8), 266 out of 387 candidates passed, representing a remarkable 68.73% success rate. For secondary classes (9 to 10), 354 of 592 candidates qualified, a pass rate of 59.80%. At the senior secondary level (Classes 11 and 12), 130 of 231 candidates cleared the test, marking a success rate of 56.28%. These figures highlight the competitive nature of the exam and the preparedness of candidates across different teaching levels.

In terms of gender distribution, 2,725 female teachers and 2,207 male teachers qualified in this phase. The board specified varying passing criteria based on categories: General category candidates needed at least 40%, Backward Class (BC) 36.5%, Extremely Backward Class (EBC) 34%, and Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Differently Abled, and Female candidates 32%. Only those meeting or exceeding these cut-offs were declared qualified. The overall pass percentage for the CTT 4th edition, as reported by the board, was 33.02%, slightly higher than the percentage announced by the chairperson, reflecting minor discrepancies in reporting but underscoring the challenging nature of the test.

The examination process was not without hiccups. The social science paper scheduled for October 12 was cancelled due to technical issues and rescheduled for October 22, 2025. BSEB has made provisions for candidates to view their response sheets and raise objections online via the official portal, ensuring transparency and fairness in the evaluation process.

For those who have cleared the Sakshamta Pariksha, the journey is not over. The Bihar Board will conduct counselling sessions for all qualified teachers, with schedules and detailed instructions to be released on the official website. This counselling is a crucial step—guiding teachers through the next phase of their careers as they transition to state employee status. With nearly 3.68 lakh locally appointed teachers in Bihar, the stakes are high: about 2.66 lakh have already cleared earlier phases, while nearly 80,000 are expected to appear in the remaining phases. The fifth and final phase of the competency test is scheduled for January and February 2026, signaling the end of a significant chapter in Bihar’s teacher regularization efforts.

Parallel to the Sakshamta Pariksha, the Bihar STET 2025 has also been a focal point for aspiring teachers. The STET, which stands for Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test, is the gateway for recruitment to teaching positions in secondary and higher secondary schools across Bihar. The test was conducted in computer-based mode from October 14 to October 31, 2025, at various centers statewide. The answer key was released earlier, with November 27 as the last date for raising objections—a process that required a fee of Rs 50 per question.

The eligibility criteria for STET 2025 are stringent. For secondary level posts (Paper 1), candidates must possess a B.Ed. along with a graduate or postgraduate degree in the relevant subject, with at least 50% marks. Those with BA-BEd or BSc-BEd degrees are also eligible. For senior secondary (Paper 2), a postgraduate degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks, plus a B.Ed., is mandatory. The maximum age limit is 37 years for general candidates, with relaxations of three years for Women, BC, and MBC; five years for SC and ST; and a generous ten years for persons with disabilities.

To qualify in the STET, candidates must secure minimum marks based on their category: General 50%, BC 45.5%, EBC 42.5%, and SC/ST/PwD/Women 40%. The test comprises multiple-choice questions, and notably, there is no negative marking. Those who clear the exam are awarded a passing certificate, valid for a lifetime—a significant incentive for candidates. The application process for STET 2025 opened on September 11 and closed on September 19, 2025, providing a narrow window for aspirants to register.

As of December 20, 2025, the STET 2025 result was expected to be released imminently, with candidates advised to check the official website, bsebstet.com, using their registration number and date of birth to access their scorecards. Only those who pass STET are eligible to apply for the BPSC TRE-4, the next phase of teacher recruitment. The anticipation surrounding the results is palpable, as thousands of candidates await the outcome that could shape their professional futures.

Both the Sakshamta Pariksha and STET underscore the BSEB’s commitment to raising standards in Bihar’s education system. The rigorous selection process, transparent evaluation mechanisms, and clear pathways to state employment reflect an ongoing effort to professionalize teaching and ensure quality education for students across the state. For the teachers who have cleared these hurdles, a new chapter beckons—one filled with promise, responsibility, and the hope of making a lasting difference in Bihar’s classrooms.
