AXS Launches Rewards Program With Mystery Box Prizes

Singapore’s AXS debuts a loyalty scheme offering coins and voucher-filled mystery boxes for bill payments, with plans to expand rewards beyond April 2026.

On January 30, 2026, Singapore’s AXS—a household name for bill payments—unveiled a fresh twist on an otherwise mundane task: the AXS Rewards programme. For millions of Singaporeans who use AXS to pay everything from income tax and utilities to school fees and season parking, the new loyalty scheme promises a little something extra for their trouble. But does it really add up to meaningful rewards, or is it just another fleeting promotion in a city awash with loyalty schemes?

Let’s break down what’s on offer. The crux of AXS Rewards is simple: pay your bills using the AXS m-Station mobile app, and you’ll earn “AXS Coins.” These coins can then be redeemed for AXS vouchers or, for the adventurous, a spin at the so-called “mystery box.” According to Marketing Interactive, the programme is designed to inject a dose of excitement into what AXS CEO Quah Chun Han called an “essential but uncelebrated” routine. “We want to make it worthwhile and gratifying,” Quah said, emphasizing that AXS Rewards builds on the platform’s reputation for lucky draws and user engagement. With one in three working adults using AXS, the stakes are high—and so is the potential reach.

Here’s how it works. For every bill you pay via the AXS m-Station mobile app—note, not the desktop browser—you’ll earn 10 coins for a non-recurring payment or 15 coins if you set up a recurring bill. There’s a little kicker, too: every three bills paid nets you an additional 30 coins. But before you start splitting your bills into tiny increments to rack up coins, AXS has set up safeguards. Only one bill payment per organisation per month will earn coins, and payments must be at least S$5 (with some categories, like utilities, requiring a S$10 minimum). According to The MileLion, this means that while the system is friendly to regular users, it’s not easily gamed for outsized rewards.

So what do these coins get you? AXS coins can be traded for vouchers at a rate of 400 coins for S$2, 1,000 coins for S$5, and 2,000 coins for S$10. That’s a rebate of about 1% for non-recurring bills and 1.5% for recurring ones—hardly headline-grabbing, but not nothing either. All AXS vouchers must be redeemed by July 31, 2026, and the final payment amount after voucher redemption must be at least S$1. As The MileLion points out, it’s “not spectacularly rewarding, but what do you expect? The margins are thin as it is.”

But the real fun, at least for now, is in the mystery box—a guaranteed-win game running as a limited-time promotion from January 28 to February 28, 2026. For just 10 coins, users can redeem a mystery box, with over 95% of prizes valued between S$0.18 and S$2.20, and a lucky few scoring vouchers worth up to S$88 (less than 5% of the time). According to Com, this campaign is set to end on April 30, 2026, with the special mystery box offer available until the end of February. The catch? After March 1, the price for mystery box redemption will return to its “usual” level, though AXS hasn’t specified what that will be. For now, though, the math is clear: the mystery box actually offers better value than the fixed vouchers, with a minimum payout of S$0.18 per 10 coins—translating to a maximum rebate of 3.6% on a S$5 bill.

Of course, there’s a reason AXS has to sweeten the pot. Unlike most online payments, AXS bill payments generally don’t qualify for credit or debit card rewards. The notable exception is the Maybank Family & Friends Card, which offers a modest 0.3% cashback on AXS payments, capped at S$50 per transaction. For everyone else, the appeal of AXS is more about convenience and cashflow management. As The MileLion explains, paying bills via AXS with a credit card lets users leverage the interest-free period on their card—sometimes stretching cashflow by up to 55 days, depending on statement and due dates. For those juggling multiple bills, this can be a subtle but valuable perk, especially when compared to platforms like CardUp, Citi PayAll, or SC EasyBill, which let users pay bills with credit cards but typically charge a fee for the privilege.

AXS is also making recurring bill payments easier. Users can set up automated, credit card-backed payments for regular expenses—think MCST fees, utilities, or school fees—with the flexibility to pause or skip a given month’s payment without having to cancel the entire arrangement. It’s a modern twist on the GIRO system, with the added benefit of instant processing and control right from your phone.

But what about the big picture? According to an internal AXS survey cited by Marketing Interactive, over half of both AXS and non-AXS users identified utilities and telecommunications bills as the main chunk of their regular payments. About 53% of users said they preferred cashback, while 41% opted for loyalty points—suggesting that even modest rewards can nudge behavior, especially for bills that are, let’s be honest, a little dull. With over one million users and a network of more than 630 self-service kiosks, AXS is betting that its new rewards programme will help it stand out in a crowded market.

Looking ahead, AXS has announced plans to expand its rewards catalogue by Q2 2026, promising new offers spanning food and beverage, travel, routine services, and more. The hope is to make the programme more appealing as time goes on, rather than letting it fizzle out after a few months. That said, the terms of the programme allow AXS to cancel or suspend the promotion at any time—a caveat that could dampen enthusiasm if users don’t see enough savings to justify the effort.

For now, the AXS Rewards programme is officially slated to run until April 30, 2026, but the company’s own press release hints at a longer-term vision. The referral code SQRZUZ5R offers 50 bonus coins on your first bill payment, sweetening the deal for newcomers. And while the rebates may be modest, the convenience and potential for “sure-win” prizes could be enough to keep users engaged—at least while the mystery box remains a good value.

In the end, AXS Rewards may not revolutionize bill payments overnight, but it does make the process a little more rewarding—and, dare we say, a bit more fun. For Singaporeans used to squeezing every last drop of value from their daily transactions, that might be just enough to make paying bills feel a little less like a chore.
