Arc Raiders Patch Fails To Stop Stella Montis Cheaters

Despite Embark Studios' latest update targeting major exploits, players say out-of-bounds cheaters still plague Arc Raiders' toughest map.

Arc Raiders, the extraction shooter from Embark Studios, is once again in the spotlight—this time for its latest attempt to stamp out cheating and game-breaking exploits. On January 20, 2026, the developer rolled out update 1.12.0, a patch aimed at tackling some of the most notorious glitches plaguing the game, especially in the high-stakes Stella Montis map. But as any seasoned Raider will tell you, the battle against cheaters is far from over.

The patch, detailed on the official Arc Raiders website and echoed by outlets like IGN and TechRadar, zeroes in on several long-standing issues. Chief among them are item and ammo duplication exploits—classic tricks that allowed players to clone gear and, in turn, destabilize the in-game economy. Embark Studios confirmed both have now been “shut down,” a move that should, at least in theory, slow down some of the worst abuse during raids.

Another critical fix targets situations where players could damage others “from behind geometry.” For anyone who’s ever been shot through a wall or map object in Arc Raiders, this tweak comes as a welcome relief. PvP fans have long complained about the unfairness of such encounters, and while it may have taken a while to land, the fix is a step in the right direction.

But the real headline-grabber is Stella Montis. Known for its labyrinthine layout and high difficulty, Stella Montis has become infamous as a playground for cheaters—colloquially dubbed “rats”—who exploit out-of-bounds glitches to gain an unfair advantage. For months, players have reported dying to adversaries hiding outside the normal play area, able to shoot in with impunity while remaining virtually untouchable themselves.

Embark Studios’ patch notes state that “various out of bounds map locations on Stella Montis” have been fixed. However, the wording leaves room for doubt, and the player community has not been shy about voicing its skepticism. As reported by TechRadar, one Discord user lamented, “There is still a wall glitch in Stella (somewhere in the lobby area). Embark is incapable of fixing their game.” Another player echoed the frustration, saying, “So, I guess they didn’t fix wall glitches because I just got killed by 3 people inside the seed vault extract in Stella Montis.” A third chimed in, “This patch notes seems like it only attracted rats into walls on Stella.”

These reactions highlight a broader sentiment: while Embark Studios has made progress, the fixes are more speed bump than stop sign. The developer’s own language—emphasizing that “various,” not all, out-of-bounds locations have been addressed—suggests that some exploits remain. According to IGN, players are still encountering cheaters hiding behind walls, particularly in the seed vault extract area and the lobby of Stella Montis.

This isn’t the first time Embark has tried to tackle these issues. A previous patch, released on December 11, 2025, was supposed to fix a zipline-related out-of-bounds glitch in Stella Montis. Yet, as many players will attest, cheaters continued to run rampant in the weeks that followed. Additional glitches have also been reported at other locations, such as Dam Battlegrounds and Spaceport, with some players noting an unopenable door in Stella Montis that adds to the game’s list of persistent headaches.

The developer has acknowledged these ongoing problems. Embark Studios stated that out-of-bounds glitches are now part of a broader suite of anti-cheat measures they hope to implement “over the next few weeks.” It’s a promise that offers a glimmer of hope, but for now, many in the community remain wary. Patience, it seems, is the order of the day. As one Reddit user put it, “I don’t know much about game design, but I’m sure it takes a while to find and fix problems within coding. So I think people should be happy that they’ve fixed the exploits that have been such a source of complaints for so long.”

There’s also the matter of other, less game-breaking bugs that continue to frustrate players. Some are still running into a crafting bug that resets counters mid-craft, wasting time and resources. Others report an achievement issue that prevents certain unlocks from triggering properly. While not as disruptive as being shot through a wall by a hidden adversary, these glitches are a reminder that Arc Raiders is still a work in progress.

For those new to the scene, Arc Raiders launched on October 30, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S. The Stella Montis map was introduced on November 13, followed by the limited-time Cold Snap event on December 16. The game has quickly gained a reputation for its challenging gameplay and, unfortunately, its susceptibility to exploits. Embark Studios’ ongoing efforts to patch these issues are crucial for maintaining player trust and keeping the community engaged.

Update 1.12.0 also brought a store rotation refresh, giving players new cosmetic options as they dive back into the fray. But the focus remains squarely on the fight against cheaters. Players are required to restart their client to apply the latest fixes—standard fare for modern online games, but a necessary step in ensuring everyone is playing on a level field.

Looking ahead, the question on everyone’s mind is clear: will Embark Studios be able to fully stamp out the “rats” that have taken up residence in Stella Montis and beyond? The developer’s commitment to rolling out more anti-cheat updates in the coming weeks is encouraging, but as recent history shows, the battle is far from won. For now, Arc Raiders fans are left to navigate a game that’s a little fairer—but still not quite free of its most persistent pests.

As the dust settles from the latest patch, one thing is certain: the war against cheaters in Arc Raiders is ongoing, and the community will be watching closely to see if Embark Studios can finally turn the tide.
