Apple Unveils Thinnest IPhone Air And AI Earbuds

Apple’s September event introduces a thinner iPhone, smarter AirPods, major health features, and new AI tools as the company aims to reignite consumer and investor excitement.

September has always been a month of fresh starts, but for tech enthusiasts, it means something else entirely: Apple’s annual product showcase. On September 9, 2025, Apple held its much-anticipated “Awe Dropping” event at Apple Park, unveiling a lineup that’s already making waves across the technology sector. From the thinnest iPhone ever to AirPods that can translate languages on the fly, Apple’s latest hardware and software upgrades are setting the stage for a competitive holiday season—and perhaps a shake-up in the company’s stock performance as well.

The star of the show was undoubtedly the iPhone Air, Apple’s sleekest phone to date, measuring just 0.22 inches thick and weighing a mere 0.36 pounds. According to Wirecutter, this model is “the company’s thinnest and lightest iPhone ever.” Despite its slim profile, the iPhone Air boasts a 48-megapixel rear camera with integrated 2x optical zoom, and a front-facing camera that supports both Center Stage and 4K HDR video. The device is powered by the all-new A19 Pro chip and incorporates Apple’s N1 networking chip, which brings Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 7, and Thread protocol support. The design sacrifices a physical SIM slot in favor of eSIM-only connectivity, making more room for battery and other internals. Apple claims the iPhone Air’s Adaptive Power Mode, a feature of iOS 26, will keep users powered all day by learning and responding to individual usage patterns.

For those who crave even more power and versatility, the iPhone 17 and its Pro siblings have been given significant upgrades. The iPhone 17 has a larger 6.3-inch display with thinner bezels, higher peak brightness (up to 3,000 nits), and an A19 chip featuring a 16-core neural engine. The Pro and Pro Max models stand out with their triple 48-megapixel rear cameras, offering up to 8x optical zoom and a new vapor chamber cooling system to boost performance. Apple touts the Ceramic Shield 2 coating on both the front and back of these devices, promising up to four times greater crack resistance and three times more scratch resistance than previous generations.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max also introduce a ProMotion display with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz, enhanced RAM (12 GB, up from 8 GB last year), and support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. There’s a new thermal system for better sustained performance and a promise of “the best battery life ever in an iPhone,” though Apple is keeping the exact numbers under wraps for now. The Pro models start at $1,100 and $1,200 respectively, while the iPhone 17 will be available from $800. All models open for preorder on September 12 and hit stores September 19, in a variety of colors from classic black and white to bold new options like deep blue and orange.

Of course, Apple’s ambitions go beyond phones. The Apple Watch Series 11, also announced at the event, brings new health-tracking features to the wrist. The Series 11 can detect signs of hypertension by analyzing blood vessel responses over a 30-day period—a feature Apple expects to be cleared by the FDA this month. It also introduces a sleep score, calculated from sleep duration and interruptions, to help users improve their rest. The Series 11 is thinner than ever, comes in both aluminum and titanium finishes, and boasts 5G connectivity with a more power-efficient modem. Battery life is pegged at 24 hours, and the display is twice as scratch-resistant as last year’s models. The Series 11 starts at $400 and becomes available on September 19.

For those seeking a more affordable entry point, the new Apple Watch SE 3 offers the S10 chip, an always-on display, and gesture controls like double-tap and wrist flick. It also brings wrist temperature sensing, sleep apnea notifications, and the same sleep score feature as the Series 11. The SE 3’s battery lasts up to 18 hours, and it supports fast charging—eight hours of use after just 15 minutes plugged in. The SE 3 will be available for $250, shipping on September 19.

Adventure seekers aren’t left out either. The Apple Watch Ultra 3, priced at $800, is designed for rugged use, featuring the largest Apple Watch screen yet, satellite connectivity for off-grid emergencies, and up to 72 hours of battery life in low-power mode. The Ultra 3 also includes 5G, hypertension alerts, and the new sleep score, with a display that refreshes every second for real-time updates.

Perhaps the most surprising innovation came with the AirPods Pro 3 earbuds. As Seeking Alpha and Wirecutter both report, these $249 earbuds are packed with features: real-time heart-rate monitoring, calorie tracking, and live language translation. The translation tool, powered by Apple Intelligence, allows users to hear someone speak in their native language and receive an immediate translation in their own language. At launch, AirPods Pro 3 will support English, French, German, and Portuguese, with more languages—including Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese—coming by year’s end. The earbuds also feature improved active noise cancellation, now twice as effective as the previous generation, and a water- and sweat-resistance rating upgraded from IPX4 to IP57. Battery life has been boosted to eight hours per charge, and the ergonomic redesign promises a more secure and comfortable fit.

Apple’s relentless push into artificial intelligence was a recurring theme throughout the event. As ETF Trends notes, AI is now deeply integrated into the iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch ecosystems, enabling smarter features across devices. This expansion of the Apple Intelligence platform is seen as critical in the ongoing arms race among tech giants to dominate the AI space.

Despite the excitement, Apple’s stock has lagged behind the S&P 500 this year, still recovering from the so-called “Liberation Day” sell-off in April. Investors are now weighing whether this new product lineup will be enough to reverse the trend. Tactical traders have options: those bullish on Apple’s prospects can leverage the Direxion Daily AAPL Bull 2X Shares (AAPU) for double exposure, while skeptics can opt for the Direxion Daily AAPL Bear 1X Shares (AAPD) to hedge or short the stock without a margin account.

With preorders opening and store launches set for September 19, Apple is betting that its blend of hardware innovation, AI-driven features, and health-focused updates will spark a rush at retail counters—and perhaps a much-needed boost in its share price. Whether these products live up to the hype remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Apple’s September event has once again set the tone for the tech world’s fall season.
